Jacques Brel sings about the flat country, Netherlands and Flanders.
It must have been recorded in the sixties.
(There exists also a Dutch version).

Jacques Brel, one of the most wonderful of what I call "the depressing singers" :p Was introduced to his music many years ago, but doubt all that many Brits know his name!

I suppose you are right Xman. It is the same with Herman van Veen, a modern Dutch singer.
This is a wonderful song about a child that committed suicide.

I might not understand all the words (I can't often in a lot of English songs :p ) but it's the emotion in there that I listen to. One reason I love Portuguese Fado music.
