This is a short version of the evening I met my partner. If anyone else wants to share their 'love at first sight' story please do.
Long, long ago in a city far, far away...
There was a hotel named after a famous 15th century explorer. The building was old. It was built during the 1930s. The architectural style of that era was romantic and this hotel was very much so.
It had fallen from grace a little but the elegance was still there. Someone bought it and set about restoring it. The reception area, lobby and lounge were the first to get the make over. The owners opened the lounge while the rest of the hotel was still under renovation.
Some friends and I loved to have cocktails some evenings at the lounge of this hotel. The bar in the lounge was dark mahogany with mirrors the length of it behind bottles of spirits. The lighting fixtures were in the style of old gas lamps. There were a few tables of the same dark mahogany in the lounge but I preferred the bar so I could see the lobby more easily through the open French doors of the lounge. Sometimes we would take our drinks to the lobby and lean against the marble walls.
One Thursday evening I was at my post in the lobby. I could see the entrance, the reception desk and the patio through the open doors on the wall opposite. A very handsome man entered through the revolving door. He was wearing a white, short-sleeved shirt that fit his torso like a glove; tight black chinos with a black belt and turquoise buckle; black leather dress boots and a bolo tie. His sleeves were cuffed to accent his biceps that were straining to bust out of his sleeves. His medium brown hair was collar length and parted on the left side. A lock of his hair fell across his forehead. His bubble butt filled those chinos very nicely.
As he moved to the front desk he noticed me looking at him. I'm not sure but I think my chin had dropped and my mouth was open. Our eyes met and I looked away to whisper to a friend, Casey, something like 'holy fuck'.
I moved from my vantage point to one of the marble columns near the elevator and stairs. He finished at the desk and made his way around the lobby past the patio and towards the lounge. I felt my pulse rise as he got closer. He walked past me and looked me in the eye again. His eyes were such a deep brown they looked black. My pulse was racing and I felt faint but managed to remain standing. He went to the lounge. I looked over at Casey and he shrugged his shoulders.
It seemed like an hour but it was only 5 minutes or so and he walked out of the lounge, past me and toward the Men's room. He looked over his shoulder at me. I followed. Inside the Men's room he was standing at a sink looking in a mirror. He smiled at me then turned and said 'I have a really big dick. Wanna see?' What was I to say to that? 'Of course I do' I said. He obliged. He had not exaggerated.
I have told that story many times and each time I feel the rush of adrenaline. It is one of the most vivid memories I have. It was the beginning of a partnership that has lasted many, many years... decades in fact. We have never been apart since that night.
Fortunes and cirstances have changed over and over but our love never has. We've had many bumps along the way but we've managed to work around them. We've had arguments but we've never gone to bed mad. Make up sex cures all ills, lol.
No matter what life throws at us we can feel safe and secure in each other's arms at night. I love him. He loves me.
