The world is far from perfect. Yes, Russia, much of Africa, much of the Muslim world. Even in liberal democracies, too many people are treated unfairly.
BUT (and it's a capitol but), human rights has made amazing advances in the span of one lifetime. (75 years).
Think back to that time. Gays, Jews, Blacks, woman (and I could make a huge list) were people without rights, and often without hope.
It's a new world. Know hope!

There does seem to be more anti-Semitism around these days. I don't know if it is anything to do with the political situation in the middle east ie Israel and Palestine or just old prejudices that have never really gone away. A Jewish guy I work with was verbally attacked coming out of a synagogue a little while back and the guys who abused him were all British Asian so perhaps it is the former.
