i am gay  ............. and i am from Egypt :worried:
i know what you all gonna say in your minds " he is Arabian, the countries that hate GAY PEOPLE and kill them ".
let me tell you a thing ... Egypt is civilized but the people are not "at least not all of them" but we have some habits and traditions of religious teachings which can't be changed no matter how and gay ppl are not religious men, they are out of nature, unmoral ppl so they hate them, but they don't kill them, but not me i am very very very open minded.
so far so good
so what the fuck is the problem???~X(
the fuckin problem that i can't take it off my mind is that i can't came out,,,,, i hated living in a box, i wanna came out to the light, i wanna be free.
why can't those ppl understand that if being gay is my choice, i don't wanna change that, and if it's a saint so it's between me and god, not your business.
i wanna came out and tell every one that i am gay, i love men, i don't love girls, and if i wanted to get married i wanna get married to a man.
how the hell i can do that in a country that hates gay ppl???????????~X(
need you help........ tell me what to do before i lose my mind.~X(
thanks for taking so long.....
have a good gay ........ Oops i mean good day lol.

This is an amazing post, and I really admire you for writing it.

Egypt is a wonderful country in many ways.

Do you have any sense that the culture in Egypt may change to becoming more gay-friendly? Or is the opposite more likely? We see in southern Africa the effect of trying to "impose" gay-friendly policies by foreign donors, and it is almost always a disaster. I don't have a solution except to say that Egypt's foreign friends should keep this issue high on the human rights agenda.

I do feel for you, I really do.

I wish there was something we could say to make things better for you cute-zozo, but there isn't :(

I can think if three choices you have, and none of them are nice:
1) stay in the closet - not good for your mental health, but could save your life
2) emigrate - move to a country where you can be out and proud safely - that's easy to say, but hard to do. Moving country is a real life-changing thing, with both good and bad aspects. You would almost certainly be home-sick to some extent for some time, and it would be a real culture shock. But, you would be liberated to be yourself.
3) be VERY brave, risk your life, and be out in Egypt. The only way gay rights come is for people to be out, but man, that is soooooooooooooooooo much easier to say than to do.

*hugs from Ireland*

As GB said - the only way for you is to leave your homecountry and go to a more liberal country. That would be very good for your existence as a free gay man.

But - and now comes the B.U.T.! Do you really want that - to leave your homecountry, to leave your friends, your family and go into a foreign country? You must live and to do that you need money - so you have to work. Do you have a job? A job which you can use as well in a foreign country? What languages you are speaking. Well - I think at first English. There you will have possibilities in the USA, in England or Ireland. But will you be there recognized as an asylum seeker. I know in Germany it could be possible because you are pursued as a gay man.

So many questions, questions which will be deceiding about your future life!

It is so hard, no one of us here really can help you - only with words. And I don't know if they will be really from help for you.

But one thing I can tell you. You have found this forum and that is too a victory of the WWW - and with this forum you have found so many friends here on GH.

So much love to you from Germany.

Well, I have no idea what the problem is for them. Why they cannot accept.

But it is what it is. Egypt isn't the only place facing such an issue, and before our time, many other communities faced such a problem as well. They made it through, so I guess we could as well. Stay strong!~

You want to come into the light...try to emigrate.
You will have to give up a lot. Your family, your culture, your sense of balance. I have a number of immigrant friends. It takes a long time to regain your balance in a new culture.

But you can be free, and live in the light.

In the meantime. get some skills. Skills that can support you when you make the move. It will ease your transition.

Judging by your post you speak English very well and I'm assuming you also speak Arabic. So you already have at least one skill that's considered valuable in America. Unlike the rest of the world most Americans only speak English, very few of us are multilingual. Other than English, Spanish is the most common language Americans learn. With the modern worlds "global economy" lots of American businesses are in desperate need of multilingual employees that can help with foreign business transactions.

As an example, I have a niece who speaks Japanese, Chinese, and Korean (she's mildly autistic and her "autistic gift" is language comprehension) and even though she's only a freshmen in college, she has companies already offering her positions when she graduates.

by the way i wanted to share my opinion about being gay is not a choice. its not about just our choice.
gays are made from diffrent soul i believe. its about nature and inborn thing which is stronger than our choice.
there is no asprin or pill to swallow and change mind next morning. so you can never change your identity even you have a fatal risk.
