Add to Reputation button

Have I just not noticed this before or is this new. How and when is it ok to use it and will there be any misuse rules

That button is old It`s been there...forever hehe. I guess it`s from the old versions of vbulletin when the thanks button was not an option...I`m not sure. But I did saw some forums where there is no thanks button , instead you can click on the reputation one and add reputation points to the user... something similar to the thanks button.

actually guys its relatively new, it was started when the forum was overhauled a few months ago, the THANKS button has been here since the forum started

I'm not sure what the rep button is supposed to do

It's a part of the reputation system. The rep system is mainly there so users can see who thanked them & where @ the usercp .
