I was so sad to read this in work today, as indeed was everyone else in the office. We all spent the next 20 minutes sharing our favourite Rickman movie moments - soooooooo many great and well delivered lines!

I'm gonna re-watch Dogma as my little tribute - that was the first film I saw him in, and he made such an impression in his small role in that film that I followed him ever since.

I was delighted when he got the role of Snape in the Potter series I love so much. He completely nailed that character - so menacing, and at time, so funny in a very subtle way.

First Major Tom and then Professor Snape - the year 2016 got an awful start.

Lemmy, Bowie, Rickman, all died of cancer and all roughly the same age, and all within a month of each other, this has been a brutal start to the new year for sure.

Wow, so many great movies that he was in that I can name off the top of my head: Die Hard, Galaxy Quest, The Harry Potter Movies, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and more than a few that I want to watch but haven't yet.

Such loss just in the first 14 days is staggering. Makes us feel our own mortality. I could get hit by a bus tomorrow, or The Big One may strike.

Thoughts and Prayers out to his family!!

This is so sad:( I only know him from The Harry Potter movies he played in as Professor Snape, This is not looking like a good start to the new year especially in the entertainment/music industries, My sincere condolence goes to his entire family and friends, May he rest in peace

Lemmy was the toughest one for me, his music has been a big part of my life. Funny that it was cancer rather than an OD or suicide that did him in.

Why not consider this bad news an oportunity to enjoy more of his fine work? I can highly recommend Dogma, and Galaxy Quest - both funny movies, and both with great performances by Rickman.

Sincere Condolences

The body may be gone, we will never get another performance from those who have passed. But one is never truly dead who is remembered. These people will live on in the heart of those who enjoy their work and continue to pass it on.

If you really want an interesting thing to do some day, go to a cemetery and just walk around and really look at the grave stones. Think of the time that they were living in, and if you really want to, try giving them a Google search. You don't always come up with anything, but Nick and I have done this on a few occasions and some of the people had really interesting lives, or tragic deaths.

And I know it does sound kinda morbid, but for Nick and I who have a fetish for kinda creepy horror movies, it makes for an interesting afternoon sometimes.

what you said about one is never truly dead who is remembered is just what the Doctor said to Amy Pond at the Pandorica - or at least very similar - so, are you a Whovian? :) I hope it's true, though...

(I was trying to find a YouTube clip of that, but couldn't, but you can watch the episode if you haven't already - it's either "The Pandorica Opens" or "Big Bang Two" :) )

I remember when i saw Perfume and Sweeney Todd, since then I couldn't think on him as only Professor Snape, even if it was how I met him.
