For free users, skylynx got it spot on, Mediafire and MegaU are the friendliest. Fileserve seems pretty average for free users. Oron is popping up more often and is a bit of a pain, making you wait much longer than some of the others and isn't very jdownloader friendly.
Sadly, rapidshare has just about disappeared, hardly anyone posts RS links anymore, myself inlcuded.

I've never yet been able to download anything from Oron, the worst one in my own experience (even worse than depositfiles 
) , can never get to the download link without being told I have to wait 600 minutes!

Well yeah unlike some other filehosting sites, its 10 mins d/l wait is decent, and good speeds too

im a hotfile man myself as anyone could have guessed lol
i still post rapidshare and people are still downloading from it a lot i find

But not a lot of guys now are posting rapidshare...
For uploaders, IMHO I guess the three would be hotfile, fileserve, filesonic (which had problems recently)
For downloaders, its Mediafire, MU, 4shared etc...

Fileserve is sort of a disaster, when someone with the same IP is online they won't let you download any file.
Filesonic is apparently having problems, because I can hardly get a connection.
Oron is a moron. Even paid connection are limited to 12 Gb a day, and they will only allow for 6 parallel downloads.
Megaupload, Hotfile (sometimes slow) and Rapidshare are the hosts I prefer.

Huh? What fileserve does is place time restrictions if you have the same ip. Just like any other file hosts. They have 10 mins waiting time just like filesonic. Hotfile has 30 mins waiting time...
