checmateapp.com and qpid.me

now there's an APP from the iTunes store that allows you to verify your partner's last std/hiv test results. you think it's something you would want to use? i think i'm going to sign up. of course nothing is foolproof, but at least this holds more merit than seeing guys post their status without it being verified! these results come from the clinic/testing site where u get tested. not something fabricated.
any thoughts?

qpid.me isn't yet on the APPstore...but you can text your results or send a link to a webpage that is constantly changed to protect your results.

Verify against what?

Not against any medical records, I hope. Ever heard of a thing called patient confidentiality?

This is wrong on so many levels. The more I think about it, the more levels I find.

1) What are you doing making enquiries from a third party to "verify" something your partner has told you?

2) What is the third party's business disclosing it to you? How is the third party to know who you are?
You could be anybody - the next door neighbour, a representative from your partner's employer, or a reporter from the local rag,

3) How did the third party get the data in the first place? If it's from a doctor or a hospital, someone could find themselves with a gaol sentence if such disclosure took place in this country.

I'm sure there is more, but I'll stop now.

Please tell me this post was not serious. This reminds me of the early days of the AIDS epidemic, when there was a brief fad (so I read) for people asking to see a prospective partner's medical certificate stating that they were free of HIV. In case anybody here still does not realise why that is stupid, not to mention dangerous.

- Firstly, there is "window" period during which a person newly infected with HIV can test negative, but can still transmit the virus.
- Secondly, and this should be blatantly obvious, how do you know he didn't get infected between the time the test was done and the present?

If you don't think you can trust your partner to tell you the truth, I'd say the partnership isn't working too well.
If you're not sure of your partner's status (or your own), just practise safe sex. Duh. Pretty simple really.

jeansGuyOZ has absolutely hit the nail on the head here. I would second every single thing he said.

One more thing: such an app or web site would be utterly untrustworthy IMO. Medical records are strictly confidential, and I would not believe any entity that claims to have them, simply because that entity would have to hack into multiple databases without anyone ever finding out, then publish that illegally obtained information with total disregard for possible legal action. It just makes no sense.

There's also another service that can be found at Qpid.me. They require users sign a HIPAA form, giving them permission to access your HIV/std test results.

checmateapp.com is a bit more cloudy in terms of execution. of the two services i think Qpid.me is the more reliable service.
Anyone else joining them? if you have sex responsibly, i dont see how they could hurt.

wow..u seem to obviously be against this, lol.

if a patient signs a HIPAA agreement form, that's giving a 3rd party rights to access your records.
in response:
1. sometimes people lie about their STD information or they may not know.
2. you get to decide who you disclose that information to. they don't make that decision, they just communicate the results from the clinic to their database.
3. must sign hipaa form, giving them rights to access ur information...

this post was serious. hiv/stds are serious, very preventative diseases. there really isnt a such thing as safe sex, as condoms have only been known to be between 85 and 98% effective...point is, they are NO foolproof. i see nothing wrong in asking someone when their last std/hiv test was and what the results were. of course you shouldn't use that as a pass to fuck bareback, but that information is vital to some folks, including myself. it shows that the sexual partner is taking care of his/her sexual health and that's VERY attractive...more than someone who isnt or who might have an STD. the window period is an issue, but hopefully condoms can help with those who have recently seroconverted. and if people try to only be active with others who can show them this "verification", perhaps there will be less seroconversions to worry about. Keep in mind not everyone is in a long term relationship. people do have one night stands or short term sexual relations. everyone isnt an angel.
