Hell, if you-know-who can make nonsensical threads, why can't I? :p Just teasing...

When it comes to me, I can get teary at the drop of the hat. When I'm really happy, when I'm moved beyond words, when I'm sad... when I'm laughing hysterically... alright, that last one doesn't really count, but you catch my drift. I think I'm too emotional at times.

When I'm angry, oh trust me; you know! LOL I think a few on GH have felt my wrath before (not all of them were warranted... you know who you are).

I live with my heart on my sleeve and I think it tends to get me in trouble sometimes. Is that a bad thing? Should I harden up? (No, I'm not referring to what is said here on GH; I'm talking about life overall.) Is it too late now that I'm 27? LOL

What about you guys? How do you deal with your emotions? Are you a bit of a wreck at times or do you feel you're much more in control of them?

I think emotions, like anything, change through life. Generally as people get older they don't "sweat the small stuff" as much. Also people's tastes change so things that would make you emotional at 27 may not make you emotional at 37. So my guess is that you will change naturally.

I think some shows of emotion are just fine. Other shows of emotion (esp. temper tantrums) are generally juvenile and just bad behavior by people who have never learned to harness negative energy. I don't tolerate temper tantrums. I walk away. It's just bullying and often abusive.

I would say that I am a 'feeling' person. I have a lot happening inside but for the most part that's where it stays. Not necessarily a good or bad thing, I'm just quiet by nature.

Eh... Yeah I am, and no I'm not ok with that... I have always to try to chill down all the time when I'm out, so that I wont burst in tears of joy/sadness when something happens, by doing that I end up posing as cold sometimes... When I'm home alone or with someone, I easily start crying over a stupid lovely movie or even anime scene -_-... soooo weird, I just cant help myself.

^^ LOL I'm the same way, Aksani. For example, I got in the mood for a lot of Spice Girls music for some reason and re-grabbed their entire discography (which, BTW, was NOT an easy task! :)) 3 albums from the group, their greatest hits and remix album.. and then, THIRTEEN solo albums between them all)... and listening to them, I got a little sad, but happy at the same time. I REALLY was a huge fan of theirs growing up.

Then listening to certain songs, I noticed I was getting a little weepy (some of them are surprisingly sweet and moving) and I thought, "Wow... I'm getting emotional over SONGS?! Are you serious?" I don't know, it's a little weird. It's really showed me just how emotional I can be.

I don't do temper tantrums; if I'm pissed or annoyed, there's usually a good reason behind it and I don't get that way often. But the other emotions in life definitely run rampant within me... a LOT!

I suddenly feel better after reading ur post Jonny xD as for the Spice Girls... yeah 1 or 2 of their songs kinda moved me back then, still probably have the same effect on me now if I ever remember their names xD. Music's a curse, lift ur spirit, makes u drown in tears... sometimes I'm just working and listening to stuff and all of a sudden "crap I'm crying -_-". Really doesnt match my tough act/look but oh well...

Nothing weird about getting emotional over a song Jonnyboy... music can have a profound effect on the human psyche.. this get's me EVERY time I hear it. Is it the lyric or Liz's haunting vocal... who knows, and who cares ... I just let it wash over me, wave after wave :)

On the floating, shapeless oceans
I did all my best to smile
til your singing eyes and fingers
drew me loving into your eyes.
And you sang "Sail to me, sail to me;
Let me enfold you."
Here I am, here I am waiting to hold you.
Did I dream you dreamed about me?
Were you here when I was full sail?
Now my foolish boat is leaning, broken love lost on your rocks.
For you sang, "Touch me not, touch me not, come back tomorrow."
Oh my heart, oh my heart shies from the sorrow.
I'm as puzzled as a newborn child.
I'm as riddled as the tide.
Should I stand amid the breakers?
Or shall I lie with death my bride?
Hear me sing: "Swim to me, swim to me, let me enfold you."
"Here I am. Here I am, waiting to hold you."

Music can definitely be an emotional experience in itself; I'll give you that. The Spice Girls, in general; represent a time when I was growing up that brings back a lot of memories; mostly good ones. I remember being a 16 year old kid listening to "Wannabe" and other tracks like that and it brings back a lot of thoughts from that time.

I didn't hear their solo stuff until much later, of course (Melanie C. a.k.a. "Sporty Spice" had the first solo album in 1999), but a lot of their solo stuff is especially great, especially my favorite, Emma Bunton ("Baby Spice"). There's one song I can listen to over and over and it always hits my heart. It's called "A World Without You" and it makes me long for someone special to love. Plus, her vocals are so sweet and the words are so touching, it's hard not to. I'll post it here. I think the lyrics attach themselves more to my loneliness more than anything...

I know that you can hear the rhythm of the rain
Although we're miles apart I know you feel my pain
I try to be so strong, I try to carry on
But since you left the sun don't seem to shine

My tears are falling on the words you wrote to me
I wish that somehow they could take me where I wanna be
It seems so long ago, you held me when I cried
For now I just pretend you're by my side, oh-oh yeah

Everything that I touch turns to blue
When I'm living in a world without you
I'm going crazy baby, I am missing you
Can't imagine all I go through
When I'm living in a world without you
I'm not alone I know that you can feel it too
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la

I try to watch a movie but you're all that I can see
In my dreams, I know I always see you constantly
But then a dream comes to an end and I'm alone
And I can't seem to let this feeling go, whoa-oh baby

Everything that I touch turns to blue
When I'm living in a world without you
I'm going crazy baby, I am missing you
Can't imagine all I go through
When I'm living in a world without you(can't live without you)
I'm not alone I know that you can feel it too

La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la...

I try to be so strong, I try to carry on
But since you left the sun don't seem to shine, whoa-oh-ooh

Everything that I touch turns to blue
When I'm living in a world without you (I'm going crazy, missing you baby)
I'm going crazy baby, I am missing you
Can't imagine all I go through
When I'm living in a world without you (a world without you)
I'm not alone I know that you can feel it too
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la (what can I do without you baby)

Can't imagine all I go through
When I'm living in a world without you (living without you)
I'm not alone I know that you can feel it too
La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la...

I'm going crazy missing you baby
Living without you (living without you)

I am an emotional person. My education is engineering (and electro), so I am able to analyse things mathematically. In normal life emotions are my guide. Because of my age I lost a lot of family and friends. I consider it as a form of respect to speak some words at the funeral. Every time the tears are running over my cheeks. But I am not ashamed of that. I just do my speech. There is nothing wrong to cry. It shows true emotion and gives more strength to the words. Here on the forum I do a lot with pictures. You need a technical skill to do so, but also there emotion is the guide.

I don't think I am emotional... I think with my head, not with my heart.

That's hard and can cost you friendship.

I'm super emotional don't like it. I can cry on command. I can control my emotions though. When I'm alone though some times I break into tears for no reason but when I'm out and about I can hide it well.

Really, Kai? I would think it was the other way around... not allowing your heart into the mix could cost you friendships/relationships. I'm not saying you have to let your emotions overrun you, but it's only natural to allow yourself to feel and accept those emotions as well.

For the most part no.
But when I think of the dogs I've had and what great companions they
were, than yes.
Kinda sad to think I care more for animals than humans.

Tom, at least you are emotional toward something... sadly, there aren't many reasons; human-wise, to show much emotion nowadays... so I can agree with you on that one, although unfortunately, I think my heart is much too big at times to stop caring about people... well, certain people... other people just need a slap. Seriously.

I am emotional. I don't like to cry about things, but it clears the tear ducts. A song, a smell, a slight remembrance can make me whistful, and leave me longing, but were I allow me to go all the way down that, road I would then become depressed.

I lead a team of 60, and the girls will cry at the drop of a hat, which I dislike. I know for them mostly it is out of frustration. For the boys, totally unacceptable to cry about work or the frustration of the current business climate. Suck it up and be a leader.

I think I have cried my last tear when I buried both my parents, but there are more to come. My baby sister has terminal bone cancer, which for the time being is managed thru medication. She keeps me grounded with her positive attitude and her very matter of fact way she handles the enevitable.

When she is gone, it will be only me left from an entire family of 6. It saddens me, but as long as my mind will allow me to remember, and as long as my memory will recognize faces in pictures I will do well.

I think only so much can happen before the mind numbs the soul (for me at least). Don't get me wrong, I'm no cold hearted bastard (though I've been called that) there are moments that tug at my heartstrings.

I guess I am afraid if I ever started crying, I might likely never stop.

Duke
