Sure I can be brain washed. :( I try not to but it might happen and I just don't see it early enough.
I think there are very few people out there who couldn't. It's just a matter of how to make it work & time until someone can be manipulated and brain washed.

As far as being gullible/easily convinced or something that changes you as a person, such as religion?

No to both; I'm a bit too opinionated to let another opinion take over (easily, that is -- I'm not saying I'm always right LOL), and too atypical to fully conform to any particular way of life.

If you're referring to gullability I think we're all capable of falling for something if taken off guard or it's from someone you've trusted.

The thing is to learn from each experience. I like to believe that most people are genuine and if you don't have a certain amount of trust you'd never get anywhere or have any friends.

Having said that I tend to take little at face value immediately these days, which makes me a cynical old bastard :p As for more extreme brainwashing, as in weird cults or theories and the like, then not at all. Like John above, I'm far too opinionated and would need more convincing and proof than most would be able to give. You see so many jumping on these bandwagons about things instead of taking time to analyse all angles.

i'd like to say im not gullible..but history has proven otherwise. But now i make sure to check up on things that seems even a bit fishy b4 believing it. Like once i was applying for this job to sell knifes. But there were several alarms. THe first was that I was told to dress professionally by the receptionist to make a good impression..second they wanted to train me for 20+ hours with no pay and wouldn't even provide snacks. I almost went with until i heard my first customers would be my parents. Oh and i almost forgot to mention the office was not professional at all, it was shabby and looked fishy even the recruitment officer was sketchy constantly twitching his eyes. Even when i walked out....it all still seemed plausible for some reason..but something made me Google the name "vector" and bada bing bada boom it all came flowing out......oodles of information about how much of scam the company was...even the recruitment details were exact down and how ppl end up owing them money..not even getting paid......and bunch of other crap. Im so happy i didn't get swindled. So im i gullable for almost falling for such an obvious scam yes...but my strength is in knowing that i am gullable so i double check things...especially if there is a hint of foul play! THank Goddness for Google!

oops forgot to answer the question! Yes one can be brainwashed...like in that instance above! Or even worse religions like scientology....i can write pages of the many horrors of this religion or what it really should be called a "cult" worth a billion dollars. Ron was a great and rather brilliant man...if only he was also good as welll...

I think gullible and brain washed are two completely separate issues.

I don't think I can be brainwashed. I guess I'm the ultimate "doubting Thomas".
I want proof, proof and more proof.

No one can brain wash me into believing a lot of what "our government" is telling us. "We have everything under control." "We know what we are doing." Yea right!!! I certainly don't believe the BS of how much of an impact we have on global warming, etc.
But I promise I won't go getting on my "soapbox" anymore.

ahaha clearly you probably a bit more resistant than others..but if one is gullible brain washing becomes much easier...say scientology for instance brainwashes both smart and not so smart people. You'd be surprised to find that many of its members hold pHd and yet believe in the quacks the fof Ron's doctrines. After all isn't the act of brainwashing..making one believe in something that is untrue or rather that one would not be inclined to believe in under normal circumstances?
