ya...been in a few
but lucky none was bad and only one was my fault..but it wasnt really, there was ice on the road and i couldent stop

Yes, pretty bad.
I was going through a green light, taxi was speeding ( estimated 48mph in a 30) never saw the stop light. Hit me right on my door. My car was totaled, and it was on old "tank", every window was shattered, glass embedded in the left side of my face, and my neck pretty twisted up. Seat belt saved my life. Lunges were bruised badly from smashing into my ribs which were held tight by the seat belt.
After 18 years I got my neck fixed. Cut out the bad discs, put in a bone graft and everything is now held together with a titanium plate that's screwed to the inside of the spine that they put in through the front of my neck.
