Squallmuzza...
You are something of an artist I think... is this dependency on the internet (not just you --lot's of us are in this boat) in any way remarkable? Could you express the dependency in an artistic fashion? When you think about the internet (as necessity) what emotions does it evoke in you?
xxoo
It's clearly a worrying thing really. As my parents always say 'when I was your age, we used to entertain ourselves with a cardboard box and nothing more'. I do feel somewhat at a loss without internet as both a tool (I used it 3 times today to research facts when I was out with friends using my phone) and a boredom buster all the time.
It really is just another form of addiction. It seems as if it has no real adverse effects, but I know a few people that have severe social phobias due to it. They..... I guess network with people online, but can't make friends in the real world. To the point that making friends is an alien and scary concept to them.
However my actual true feelings on it being viewed as a NECESSITY (not food, water and shelter, but close) are slightly mixed. After all, it is a great benefit as a tool in any sense, but is it worth the sacrifice of sociability and the drain on productivity? I can't say.
I would really hate to be without it, not just for the career option (because that's a large chunk of my internet time), but for simple things like this. Just being able to discuss something in an open forum, where points of views are more varied than anywhere else, where even the reason we're here is varied is priceless.
I learn daily, experience new things constantly, purely from internet access being constantly there and constantly being taken advantage of. Without it, my life would definitely lack a lot of the savour it currently does.
I guess you really need to have been on both sides of the mirror to know for sure (and I mean that in an impossible way, i.e. having grown up in both sets of cir
stances). You really can't experience the positives and negatives properly without that.
So instead of an artistic answer, you've had a ramble.... But I think that's about as good as it's going to get on a subject like this really.
