Do you believe in Hypnosis?

I's it possible to hypnotize a person to do something?

I'm just not sure:?

I've personally debated this matter with some friends.

So far, we have not come to any conclusion. lol

But honestly, i don't believe in hypnosis ( for now ).
Maybe after i get one, i might change my answer.
But it sounds like bs to me though ( just my opinion ). :)

I went to a comedy club that had a hypnotist performing. He would get people on stage and make them do weird shit. One of his volunteers happened to be my next door neighbor, he had her sit in a chair and told her she was driving a corvette on a country road. Then he told he that a cop was pulling her over...

She grabbed her purse, pulled out a sack of weed and threw it under her seat...

Like I said I knew her and I know it wasn't staged.

Another girl was given a post hypnotic suggestion that as she left the show lounge and went to the bar area, all the TV's would be playing porn staring friends of hers...

As I left she was screaming to the bartender "That's disgusting, turn that off! I know those people"...

Yes it does work. A friend of mine qualified as a hypnotherapist.

I've never been sure about stage acts though, but there does seem evidence and anecdotes that suggest it's real. I'm not a very good subject for hypnosis, my mind doesn't switch off very easily!

All it is , is putting suggestions into the sub-concious mind. It can be used to cure phobias, addictions, etc. I'm not saying it always works, but there are some success stories.

Knowing how it's done, years ago I did a little experiment on a couple of friends. One was totally amazed that I made his fingers or arm move without him making any conscious effort of thought to do it. Again, it was just suggestion.

I imagine it can be dangerous if not used correctly. For example, if you leave the suggestion that there is a mad dog in the room and you don't take that thought out of their mind before waking them they could develope a fear of dogs.

I've a similar story to brmstn 'cos I was at a show when people we knew went on stage so we knew they weren't part of the act - and again one guy was left with an autosuggestion and continued to react to it in the carpark.

Always wondered if it worked, but never met anyone who's been hypnotized nor have I. I was going to try to help stop smoking but wimped out. Would love to know if it works.
