I'm definitely a listener. I enjoy watching others getting excited about what their telling me and enjoying the attention their getting...I can always see it on their face. I will even fib to make a person feel more enthusiastic, depending on the situation. Like if they say they've been somewhere and I have been there too, I may say I haven't been there just so they can tell me all about it.

Thats not to say I don't do my share of talking at times, but I do like being the soundboard better. :)

Well you can probably guess what I'm like lol

Actually I am a good listener too, you have to work out the happy medium. Nothing worse than awkward long silences anyway ;)

Oh, that really depends.
I definitely tend to listening much more than talking.
Often I think that I just don't have anything interesting to say and I'm glad that most of my friends tend to be much more talkative than I am. They need someone who will listen to them an I love listening to their stories. Perfect match. :)

But that doesn't mean that I like just sitting there and listening to a monologe. ;) It's still a conversation where we both (or more) take the part we feel the most comfortable in.

How about listening to yourself as you talk to yourself....and you answer:worried: or maybe...get in an argument with yourself..:worried:

I like listening to people and observing how they conduct a conversation. I can learn a lot about a person by their conversation and their body language..

I do a lot more listening than talking. People sometimes complain I don't way enough. I am fairly closed about myself, but will keep asking questions to find out more about others.

I like to listen, just like what nilstreet posted, a lot can be learned from the manner in which the talker forms sentences, ability to stay on message, and of course the message itself.

I like conversations, which means that you talk yourself, but you must also be a good listener. Without both facts there is no conversation. When I sit alone in my car I often talk to myself (even loud). Then I am also a good and interested listener.

Depends on what they need.
If they need to let out their problems or tell their adventures, I'll listen.
If they need sharing talk buddy, I'll tell what I think needed to share (althought I often give too much information :p)

It also depends on who I was talking to.
If they pick my interest, I could chit-chat for hours.
If they boring, I try to bear it as long as I can, and then... life goes on...
I intend to ignore stranger because I'm uncomfortable with people I'm not familiar.
And in internet, I could be and do whatever I want.

I don't like conversations where one person is doing all the talking, and I'm stuck listening to them. At the same time though, I don't like to talk all the time throughout the conversation. I prefer discussions where both people can talk equally. Basically you say something and I respond and the other way around. Its more interesting and stimulating intellectually that way.

There is an old saying ...

A bore is someone who talks to you about themselves when you want to talk to them about yourself ;)

As a young man, I loved listening to Dick Cavett's interviews. Now I adore listening to Terry Gross on PBS Fresh Air and the interesting subjects in All Things Considered. Cholera, small pox and bubonic plague to all those who want to kill PBS.
