I don't like the government in the US right now (as it is more interested in murdering middle easteners than taking care of it's own citizens and preventing catastrophic global warming,) but there is one I would like--a government so big that it includes everyone as primary decision makers through direct, decentralized democracy backed up by a new constitution; no 'representatives' involved.

Worst case - get on a boat and get OUT of there! It's probably only a matter of time before they track you down on here and haul your ass into jail for a caning...or worse...just saying. Is that still a punishment there? Seems pretty stone age to me...

One would think true Democracy would be the best way to go....but the problem is that many times the majority view or opinion (which is what would govern in a true Democracy) sucks. It is too easily manipulated; usually by the use of fear.

Many Americans (if not the majority) are not well educated and tend to be closed minded people...they don't have the responsible decision making abilities for the society at large. A true Democracy would only work if the population is highly educated at approximately the same level and is mostly homogeneous in all demographics. America is too diverse for it to work.

Some of the best changes that have happened in the US, only happened because of a minority viewpoint having access to political power to change the society. A good example is civil rights. This could not happen in a true Democracy.

Think of the majority opinion positions of Americans today...would you really want that to the the law of the land? Not me. Go look at the polls; many positions are very scary for individual rights and freedoms. If the majority ruled, I would guess, we would be fighting more wars than we are now.

I am not an Elitist, but rather a Pluralist who believes in strong protections for the minority from the majority.

Our Government is slowly erroding our freedoms. We have "sleep-walked" into a surveilance society and are now the most watched country in Europe if not the Western world!!

Sadly once these things are in place no alternative party is seriously going to do away with it despite what they profess they'll do. I might be a big cynic but with good reason I think!
