Does anyone know about Oron?

Seems to be an interweb shift over to Oron, especially on porn forums. Anybody know why this is happening?

I never had any problems with oron, and i never subcribed to a montly membership it still work well as a free member. (for me)
The only complain i have about oron is the waiting time between files (1.5 hour) :yawn:

The waiting time between files is inexcusable at least for me,i mean c'mon,once i have downloaded a kinda big file and for the next part i had to wait 2 hours and 45 minutes :worried:

Oron really is a horrible service. I'm on a relatively fast connection. I can usually download a 500mb file in 10-15 minutes. It takes over an hour to download a 200mb file with Oron, though. The download speed limits on Oron are among the worst in the industry.

I realize that. In fact that is the only reason I don't upgrade to a fiber line - no easy way to generate a new IP with fiber. I realize some cable service providers also don't let you easily generate a new IP. But AFAIK, DSL lines easily let you generate a new IP.

Agree about Oron. It sucks because of long times between free downloads. I once spent several days downloading a multi-part file only to find I didn't like the video at all. The only worse downloader is Files Monster.

Also, it is too expensive to join. The price of 55 euros works out to be almost $80 U. S.

I am very happy with Fileserve and Filesonic.

Oron buys forums and then makes sure all the uploaders use their service by paying real money based on the number of downloads. Great for uploaders.

But for download customers, including premium, they choke off downloads at 15 GB and impose a three day wait. Means you only get 10 days per month for your membership. Want to bypass the limit? Well heck just buy another premium membership!

Oron links should be banned from this forum.

We tried banning Oron and we tried to make posters using Oron also include alternative links to one of the recommended file host...

But unfortunately, the current owner of this forum, in what I can only assume was a momentary lapse a reason, made a deal with Oron to pay for the servers... So now we're all fucked...:angry:

All the posters on this forum can choose which filehost(s) they use. Why does it matter what deal was made with who. Nobody's forcing anyone here. So Why do so many people upload to Oron?

Is there a hidden advantage? Is it extremely easy to upload to Oron? Is there a benefit for the uploader? I don't think so.

This doesn't explain the Oron "succes".

I'd say that the forum pushes people to move to FileSonic. Because above this it actually reads: "FileSonic = High speed+parallel downloads! Click Here"
And when you read the rules, you can see that mediafire is being promoted.

Yes, FileSonic is pushed on this forum because, FileSonic is also owned by Oron, who has a deal with the forum for advertising space...

Yes, the uploaders who use Oron do benefit. Oron pays more than other file host. Oron does this by ass-raping the downloaders. They also use Oron because most of them are serial posters who post to dozens of other groups, many of which have been bought outright by Oron and now force the members to use Oron, so they use it here as well...

And, speaking as a former staff member, and someone who has been here from almost the very beginning...

Yes... The staff here most definitely do push MediaFire and to a lesser degree, MegaUpload.

That is because, unlike the current owner, who has his own agenda, every member of the staff here is a volunteer. They do the work here because they care about this community and strive to keep the original purpose of this forum alive. That being sharing for the sake of sharing, not so assholes can make a living ripping off the studios.

They push MediaFire and MegaUpload because they are the fairest to free users and do not pay uploaders. People who use these services share just to be sharing...

And now you know why all those Oron users, some of whom have hundreds or even thousands of post to their credit, are still Junior or Regular members and have never achieved VIP status or above...

The only thing I don't like about Oron is it doesn't have resume for free users. For that reason I avoid full length dl's from them. That's why I like Filesonic. Otherwise Oron has for me an acceptable dl speed, maybe a little slower than others but more than adequate. And most of the time its plenty fast. (Maybe I use it at slow times?)

I cant download from oron as my download limit is allways used up I think ive managed 2 files this year
