I can believe this, you're mind reader :eek::p:p:p
I've been thinking of dreams and starting a thread, but maybe I'll wait :)

And to your question: do you mean that in a dream you are not part of it like watching a movie OR like you're being someone/something else than you? I think I have had both, although it is not so easy to remember for sure :)

But not to be aware of yourself, that could be difficult

I think a lot of dreams are done in the first person (ie, through your eyes), regardless if you are dreaming about something based on a tv show or book you've read.

Only once i've ever had a dream where I was not involved.. it was a nightmare, but somehow everything twisted in the end and I was the one running for my dear life

Dreams are the way that our mind (typically our subconscious) gets rid of overload and stress. One could almost say that they are thought farts to ease brain pressure - the same way that passing flatulence eases pressure in the colon.

Usually, we are connected to our dreams in some way, if not the center of the dreamscape. It is possible to dream without being in the 'picture', but the dream is seen through our eyes so we are inevitably connected.

Mostly I do not remember any dream when I wake up. But if I do, it are always complete stories. Like a proper book, so with a realistic plot. In some dreams I play a role in it, but in others I watch. The stories are completely different, but without exception with the same line: things are taking place, can not be influenced, are unstoppable. It sounds not positive, but I never had bad feelings about it. Actually I do like the stories. As Hawtsean mentioned, it could be an exhaust valve for my brain, a way to accept life as it is.
I dream in pictures, motion pictures, but never see actually faces; more characters. And I am not sure if I see colors, as if your brain does not need colors to be influenced in a dream. It is the brain himself who creates the emotion.

Great question; never thought of it. I think the answer is no.
