Ever Notice?????

Hey Guys:

I will be the first one to say that I am not a big fan of social media sites such as; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. One of my close friends had created an account for me without my permission where he went through one of my late partner's photo albums and edit and upload pics of me for that page. Once he confessed and told me his reasons for doing it. I decided reluctantly to keep it activated just for social contact. The thing is that I visit this site probably three times out of the week just to check out mail or notifications and this is done just one time during those days. However, what I've noticed is that a lot of the guys takes a lot of time to post a lot of pictures of themselves...majority of them scantily clad or nude and they do this just to seek attention from your likes and comments of praise. I saw where some of the guys whom were very handsome did this constantly a lot on a daily basis which made me wonder that from their good looks and beautiful bodies ...you would think that they would either have someone special in their lives or consumed with a full dating life that they would not have that kind of time to spend posting pictures and notifications about every little thing in their lives.

This also made wonder if their lives are anything as they portray them to be in these picture or if nine times out ten..this is all facade to imply that they are living happy lives. In regard to the guys who posts countless naked pictures of themselves...I can't help but wonder does it ever occur to them that no guy is going to take them for no more than a quick lay??...or better yet..what if you are faced with a great career opportunity and someone sees these pictures you have out there...more than likely...they will ruin your chances of getting that opportunity...and another thing...don't get upset when gay porn studios approach you and you feel disrespected when they are just going by what you put out there...What do you guys think of this?...Am I on to something here with this topic?....Thanks again..JW :thumbs up:

I just call it attention whoring. Many do it even if in relationship etc. And it's been studied that hanging around in Facebook etc. may cause depression, cause people usually share positive things there, implying that they have perfect lives, wich may cause the reaction in some feeling bit less perfect in theur lifes, that they start posting those dung pile of posts(what ever they feel makes their life seem desirable) just to show off. Or to seek casual sex. Hmm to use Facebook for searching random sex... why not:thinking: What was the question about again?

Oh, and btw, my profile(the posts, information etc.) is visible only to friends. I don't want employer spying on meX_X I have even denied their friend requests if they have send one, I have the right to do so

Absolutely Otage...I could not agree more in regard to profile information being visible only to friends. I know from working in Human Resources for a huge global corporation that they actually do check social media sites to see what employees/potential employees have posted on their pages which can result into your being hired, promotion, etc. :thumbs up:

I think I was among the first to sign up for Facebook, and I was one of the first to leave.

Even then was dubious about this phenomenon and with the passage of time, I have not regretted this choice.

I can survive with dignity even without Social Forum (aside GH :rofl
