This is my second thread, hope it goes better then the first. Waa, Waa:(:praying:

Hope this hasn't been done before, I believe there were variations of it.

1). What's your favorite meal that you eat at home or your your family members make?

2). What's your favorite meal the you can only get at a restaurant?

Me: (Tougher than I thought to pick just one).

1). My oven fried chicken, and backed potatoes on the grill. Chicken is coated with my secret recipe and baked. It's actually healthy, no grease involved. Potatoes are slit open and butter put in and wrapped in aluminum and put on the grill.
1a). Traditional Thanksgiving meal. Roasted turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes in brown sugar butter sauce.

2). Saltimbocca, from a small Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. Run by three brothers from Italy. It's veal topped with prosciutto and sage. Marinated in wine with mashed potatoes in a mushroom gravy.

1.) Rinderroulade with potato dumpling and red cabbage like my mother makes them ^^

2.) Currywurst, Curryklops (the same then before only made of a meatball instead of a sausage) and french fries from our local Wurstbude (Take-Out).

I don't go into restaurants so often...

You first thread went quite well in the end ;)

My favourite meal at home is my own veggie chilli, or any curry I make.

I don't have a favourite going out meal really. It's whatever takes my fancy at the time. I could say any good curry again, but I'm just as happy with my homemade ones. I do eat fish occasionally, out more than in, so often I'll go for salmon & all the trimmings when I'm out as I never cook that at home unless it's in something ready prepared .

(Had salmon when I was out on Friday!)

I think your wikipedia links may be mixed up. Your Currywurst leads to Rouladen.
I thought wurst was sausage.

I've had rouladen in Rothenburg.
And sausages from street vendors with hard rolls in Munich. Yum, Yum.

At home: schnitzels :) (I don`t know if it`s the correct name for it but it`s those pieces of meat you beat a little with that special kitchen hammer and then put the pieces of meat into beaten egg and white flour and then fry them..:) I could eat those every day and never have enough of them:) )

At a restaurant...dunno...maybe the Cordon Bleu but just because we don`t make it at home :)

Wow...this is a tough one especially at 8:15 in the morning but

1) it would probably be a big bowl of pasta covered with Italian gravy/sauce with meatballs, sausage, pepperoni and Braciole thats been cooked in the gravy and served on the side.

2) Theres so many but probably Paella. We have so many spanish/portuguese restaurants in town and omg I just love it.
2a) Sushi

:)

There's one dish my dad makes that I just love...and since he made it last night I thought I'd share...its Chicken Pepperoncini...here's the recipe....

1 1/2 pounds skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - cut into cubes or pound into thin cutlets
1/4 cup olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup Italian seasoned dry bread crumbs
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup white wine
1 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
ground black pepper to taste
1/2 cup pepperoncini peppers (in jar)

In a shallow dish, stir together the bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese and pepper. Dip chicken into egg, then coat with the bread crumbs.
Heat about half of the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the chicken until browned on all sides, about 10 minutes. Remove to a paper towel lined plate to drain. Add more oil to the pan if needed, and then put in the mushrooms and onion. Cook and stir until tender, and mushrooms have cooked down. This may take a good 15 minutes. Return the chicken to the pan, and use scissors to cut the pepperoncini over the pan so as not to waste any of the juices. Use more or less according to your preference. Let everything simmer for 5 to 10 more minutes before serving.

Sounds lovely Joe . I'd have to do a veggie version with "imitation" chicken but would work.

What are pepperoncini peppers ? Is there another name for them? I can't remember seeing anything called that.

Hmmm... this is probably going to make me seem like a pig, but whatever. LOL

1. Homemade French fries, bacon and eggs (for breakfast, obviously); especially when my mom makes it. I can cook just fine, but it's never as great as hers!

2. I'm a sucker for bad Chinese food. LOL Usually, I love General Tso's chicken (a sweet and sour flavored type of small chicken pieces covered in a special sauce and sesame seeds) and Pork Fried Rice. Also, I love some Fried Wontons... don't know exactly what those are, but they are so yummy; especially with duck sauce!

Sure, X, im sure any good fish would work like cod or tilapia. The peppers I find in an italian deli I frequent...not sure if theres any other name but probably any other pepper would work too...the pepperocinis are spicy and that is what works with this dish so go for what you can get...

Since when was fish a vegetable :p

Ok I do eat fish occasionally, but I'd use a soya or quorn substitute. I'd not eat fish like this anyway, wouldn't suit I don't think.

I'd use chilis for the peppers , just wanted to know if they were meant to be spicy. I never follow a recipe , always adapt them and never use measures much, just throw it in until you think it's right ;)

Sounds very good. Do the peppers make if very or just add a little zing?

Xman, are you a vegetarian?
How are you going to grow up to be big and strong if you don't eat meat.

I need over 300 grams of protein a day, and I eat very little meat.
I can't even get close to 300 grams no matter how much milk and protein shakes I drink, and yogurt I eat.

Tom, apart from very few occasions , some unknowingly, I could probably count on all my fingers the times I've eaten meat in the last 20+ years with the exception of fish, which I've eaten more often but not that regularly.

I'm fine and when I bother to make the effort my diet is good. I still eat a lot of junk but you don't need meat, it's a myth.

I won't bore you with my reasons for stopping eating it but it wasn't for my health, I reached a point where I couldn't be a party to factory farming (which is where most comes from) and the cruelty it involves.

Oh blow me...lol.....thats meat

I didnt realize you were that much of a veggie...but ok..so use soy tissue or whatever...that might work...:worried:...love you...

and yes, Tom...its all about the peppers...total zing but you can add or subtract according to taste...but the recipie I think is the right balance...Im not huge on spicy but it is just enough before my head spins...lol
