Fixing a DVD

Hey Guys,

I have a DVD that was at the bottom of a pile of DVD's and it is warped . You can put it on a table and rock the DVD

I have been doing a Google Search and people there are saying heat up the DVD in a few different ways and then flatten it for several days.

Wondering if anyone here has had any experience in fixing DVD's, and what method you used?

Its a DVD I wanted to do for you guys as it would have been two more clips for the Dënïs Rëëd thread

Try it out.

Does it have a crack? Then throw it away. Does it look a "bowl"?

Then lay it in the sun (I wouldn't do any other forms of heating, esp. if it's not a original cd but a burned one) and then put it beneath a pile of very heavy books. But it depends on the kind of warp.

I must admit that I was bending misformed cds sometimes in my hands and it worked. But those were original cds, a warped dvd might be damaged anyway.

And you can try to find the scenes elsewhere on the net.

If it was a data based DVD you could get it back in shape and recover some of the data depending on the warping. However a video dvd you would only be lucky to recover some of it and even then there could be some major breaks or skipping in the video.
if you want to try it I would recommend putting the disk between a few layers of brown paper, boil a pan with hot water and then place the hot pan on top of the layers of brown paper. Let it sit for about a 1/2 hour. You may want to try it first with a blank DVD to figure out how much paper to use.

It is not cracked at all. Just misformed. Sadly it has been in its misformed state for a few years
