Do you use the "safe remove" next to the clock in the taskbar or are you pulling the stick without safe remove?

Thanks lads.It was a small USB stick and I may have just pulled it instead of safely removing. It has been formatted but now will not be noticed by computer. Not the end of the world but an annoying mistake.

Thanks RockNLol.I will try that later. The computer formatted the drive but then did not work. Thanks again for your advice.
Yes it shows up in disk management as healthy(primary partition) and file systen is RAW and says it is 100% free.the computer says it needs to be formatted but it will not do that.I wonder if it can be loaded with data from another source other than a computer to get it started again.

Thanks RockNLol.
I downloaded that and followed your instructions, changed to NTFS but although it recognised it still no go on computer. It still wants to format it and fails.I could not change the type from Logical to Primary which could make a difference. So this wizard and disk management see it but not windows.I think I will give it up as a bad job and be more careful iin the future. Thanks again for your help.
