Hello guys,

here I was introduced to foobar. bafm told me it's a wonderful player:

I agree. p:p Not just that foobar plays flac, it's much better in performance than winamp, which I'm currently using.

I listen to classical music mostly which is always rather muted/quiet if you compare it to other music. I've got to pull up the volume and with winamp you hear interferences, which you don't do with foobar.

I've got foobar2000_v1.1.14a now.

There is one thing I miss though: The nice large digital display where you can see the playtime.

I'm so used to have a clock like this. I checked all the options (oscillicope etc are rather nice but not really necessary, lol) but could not find something similar.

My question is: Is there any version or any way to have a nice little fake digital clock like you have with winamp? I've changed the options in my "preferences: colors and fonts", changing Status Bar to 24 pt, but it doesn't look really good.

Thanks in advance. :)

There are many skins for foobar but honestly I never learned how to use them!
Just google foobar skin.

I like this player especially for his essential look, I just changed a few options for colors and fonts.

I can understand the look is important too but if you want a beautiful player then you won't find it in foobar.

Just an OT, another good player is AIMP3, it plays everything and I mean really everything! And it has also a clock like that :p
Even more you don't need to install it because it's also portable.

There are tons of skins too, more info here :)

Hehe, no, now I'll stick with foobar. :p

Hehe, it's not beauty I seek. I also don't need an album cover, visual equalizers and other things. I'm just used to have a clock, so I can see at one sight where the music is. But It doesn't have to please me asthetically. :D

You know that the resolution has increased over years from 480 to 1920 but with windows the font-size of the system stayed the same. I know that you can adjust it manually but that is hardly working well.

I'll follow your suggestion and do some search. For now (as I've edited) I changed the font size up to 24, you I can see time better as I did with fontsize 8.

Oh yeah I couldn't agree more.

A music player should play music after all and foobar does it in an excellent way.

If you have good speakers don't forget the WASAPI plugin and you'll have a perfect bit per bit pianissimo orchestra, no noise at all, and trust me I have a very good ear ;)

Great. Thanks. I'll do so!

A good thing about foobar is that I can use my winamp playlists further.

A bad thing is the right-hand-mouse-menue. I think I installed it correctly but it doesn't offer me "add folder to foobar"/"play folder with foobar" when I go on a folder and open the menue (I get "play folder with winamp"/"play folder with vlc").

Do I have to go the registry now? :D (I must admit I still use XP).

Go in foobar options Shell integration and enable the folder context menus

It works like a charm for me with Win7 64bit

Love foobar2000. However, I prefer the blank look. Never bothered getting skins for mine. In the end I'm multitasking and never looking at my player so doesn't bother me if the player is pretty or not, what matters is the simplicity and the quality of the player.

As for skins, deviantart has a few foobar themes and the theme creators usually give you step by step instructions.

I love the fact it is customiseable to your own needs ,so I made my own little theme and installed the lyrics plugin so I can sing along (badly) to the music am listening to :p
