Football team sacked after homophobic threats.


A Swedish football club has fired all the players on its top team following complaints that players hurled homophobic remarks at members of an opposing team.

Quite harsh. I mean they fired everybody? Did everybody make the remarks? I don't think punishment is the best way to get people co-operate. But homofobia needs some dramatic action, I mean I can remember how low I felt when I was a teen. There was no help. But punishment is not the way to go I think. There's a reason why spanking is not allowed

The article actually says suspended, not sacked. The team members may be out for good or only for a few games. The article also suggests quite a few team members participated, not just one or two so suspending the whole team seems justified to me.

I think Pavlov's theory of "positive reinforcement" for good behaviour doesn't work in all cirstances - especially since these guys are adults. Punishing those involved rather than a broad spank, however, would be more effective I believe.
