i just finished reading dan browns new book "the lost symbol," and it got me thinking about the freemason organization. thought i would post to you guys and find if any of you were masons and what your reasoning behind becoming a mason was.

superstitous crap aside, it doesnt sound like a bad fraternatity to be a member of. personally i dont have any close guy friends, or friends in general that really have a belief in a higher being and am half tempted to find out more.

A friend of mine is a mason. It all sounds a bit wierd to me but he's game for anything. I was invited to join years ago by someone else I knew but declined, didn't think it would be my thing and still don't.

The one stipulation they seem to make is that you have to make an oath to your god or deity or whatever, but it can be anything.

There is nothing really strange about them, at least not in the lower levels, can't speak for those who achieve the higher status, I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't certain dealings done behind closed doors !

I still believe there is a lot of secrecy behind them despite them saying there isn't.

As for Dan Brown, I wouldn't take too much notice of what he writes. I just about got through the Da Vinci Code before chucking the book away lol Didn't think much of it at all !

I am the first of my family to reject them, several of my family were 32nd degree...and they don't like rejections by legacies....
if not for the docs that I have deposited safely away...I would be dead.
