It's pretty interesting how the series is diverging from the books finally - mostly because they're running out of the GRR Martin storyline. His 5th book was pretty weak so it will be interesting how the story moves along with a new driver in the drivers seat...what do you guys think?

I think Martin realised - after the latest book especially - that his plot and some characters were very weak in parts, and his writing was pretty flabby (compared to the early books) so he was able to change things in the TV series, or at least not bother too much that the TV series has strayed from his words a lot.
Might teach him a lesson for making readers wait for years until the next book. Especially since the HBO version is better than much of his fiction.
