I wonder if this Stephen Bennett guy thinks by attacking the LGBT community he will be welcome by and accepted as a member of the Westboro Baptist Church?

'Anyone With A Brain' Realizes Gay People Shouldn't Be Treated Equally, 'Ex-Gay' Activist Claims
The Huffington Post | By Curtis M. Wong | Posted: 08/18/2014 2:35 pm EDT

"Ex-gay" activist Stephen Bennett fired off at the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community in an interview with Mission America's Linda Harvey last week.

Identified by "Understanding the Times with Jan Markell" as a "former homosexual," Bennett argued that "anyone with a brain" realizes that LGBT people should not be treated equally, Right Wing Watch first reported.

Bennett pointed to a recent study, released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics, which found that just 2 percent of the American population identified as gay or lesbian as part of his declaration.

"Look at the amount of change that has happened over the last several years because of just a handful of powerful homosexual activists," Bennett said. “They’re basically marching in with their fist shaking, saying, ‘We demand equality, homosexuality is equivalent to heterosexuality.’ And folks, it is not."

He also didn't mince words when it came to his stance on same-sex couples who are also parents, noting, "Can homosexuals raise children? Absolutely. Is that what God's perfect plan is? Absolutely not."

Bennett is the president of Stephen Bennett Ministries (SBM), which is based in Connecticut and described as "evangelistic, educational, exhortational, and encouraging Christian ministry dedicated to ministering to homosexual-identifying men and women who are seeking change," according to its website.

As for Bennett himself, he claims to have left "the homosexual lifestyle through Jesus Christ more than 20 years ago," and is married to SBM co-founder Irene Bennett.

It appears "ex-gays" have something in common with ex-smokers. They both take every opportunity to vilify their former cronies. Well, Mr. Bennett, in the immortal words of Maude Findlay, "God will get you for that."

Converts in creed or sexual orientation are more rabidly and dogmatic than normal people! And I don't believe that he has been at any one time really gay. He is one the right wings have pulled out of the hat to demonize gay people.

This article has so many faults, to pick just one it repeats the same error of logic that a previous similar story was based on, that the numbers of members in a minority group affect the degree of equality that group is deserving of. Whether it is lobbying by a handful of powerful activists or the 300,000 who march for London Pride, equality for is for everybody.
Dr King 1963
"I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."
Fiftyone years later some of his fellow christians are still not getting the message.

Well, it seems to me, that for the umphteenth time it is proven, that the more christian and heterosexual american men get, the more stupid, aggressive and hateful they get at the same time.

This guys is clearly nuts and has no clue what equality means. Equality is not determined by numbers. In fact, equality is all about protecting the rights of MINORITIES. I don't for a second believe the 2% number is accurate, but if it were, it would STRENGTHEN gay people's case that they are minority and need their rights to be protected from the majority.

Anyone with even half a brain realises that right are not predicated on numbers, that's what makes them rights!

I hope yours is a statement thrown out at random, for this absurd comparison, because if not, your thinking is not very different from that of that '"individual"
