I noticed that the screencaps I have posted using GayPhotoSharing was gone today - could be a temp serverdowntime on this service, but when I went to their website:

this is the message that comes up:

This site is temporary suspended.

Could this have anything to do with the new image behavior on that and the clips site?

Looks like it has gone for good!

I have just tried to access gayphotosharing and was redirected to rudespace.

From this can we presume the site has closed for good?:(

Yes it is probably gone for good! I never saw any ads there so don´t know how they made money funding their hosting servers? Well - we still got http://www.pimpandhost.com/ GH's own filehost!
