I seem to spend too much time on the internet talking to people but I don't know how to really meet people in public. lol. I was just wondering how any of you find the right guy. How did you meet the guy your with now? Some people seem to find them online, through friends or even just out clubbing. Tell me your story of how you met him.

Where I live there isn't much of a gay scene, so it seems most people meet their partners online. Which is what I did too for my boyfriend. I cast a wide net when I moved here, mostly just looking for friends.

For me, I preferred to meet people quite quickly after connecting online. What I experienced is that the longer I chatted with them online, the more of an image I built up in my head about what they would be like. And the reality was often different (not always bad, but different than I expected). So, connecting, and then meeting quickly for a coffee or something worked best for me.

I've noticed the same thing. That sometimes the person doesn't quite turn out the way you'd expect. I guess I should probably try that. Sometimes I get pretty nervous about meeting with guys though. But I just get told to be myself.

Just being yourself is great advice! And don't put too much pressure on the situation. Just think of it as an opportunity to maybe meet another nice person....and if more develops, then that is a total bonus.

I don't really have the luxury of a gay scene where it is easy to meet people in person. But when I did, then friends of friends was always a good choice......

Being into some specific kink play, I always felt the need for a lot of discretion. I made careful inquiries and over the years have been able to hook up with guys who like what I do. Some online contact can prove helpful, although much caution is needed with any online stuff. Frequenting bars or clubs catering to the kind of person you seek may be another method. All of this simply puts you out there where others who share your interests might be found.

Doing online searches for gay activity in your area might be of general help.

I met my boyfriend online. we were together for 13months until he turned into a complete lying, cheating bastard. Its good to meet guys in person to when I got to bars but sometimes its easier to break the ice and start conversation online.

I never go looking or searching for a boyfriend. I believe the best relationship occur when they happen spontaneous. I've watched people that I knew from working in the club scene who had the strategy or plan of coming out to meet someone and it eventually turns out to be a bad connection. In all honesty, because of my full school schedule at the moment, I don't have much time for socializing especially with a full time job as well..therefore, I do enjoy talking with people on line and I do that in between classes, getting into work early or on my lunch hours. I also carry my own laptop because many times, I leave for class right after work. However, I do have serious apprehensions in regard to meeting guys in person because I have had some really outrages incidents from the past where I had to get my friend at the police station involved. I also had two of my best friends who got murdered from meeting guys online and one in particular was portraying to be a gay guy when it turned out he was against homosexuality and went on a personal crusade to bash and kill gay guys. Therefore, I am a firm believer that things happen when they are meant to happen such as relationships.
