Haitian Relief--Via Red Cross

I imagine most of us have heard about what has happened in Haiti already and hope if there are any members living there that they are ok. The country as we know wasn't off well financially before this happened so this is hurting them even more sadly. I know the Red Cross is doing some disaster relief drives by text or website which is easy for those who can't do much otherwise. For the text its ten dollars American and you text Haiti to 90999. Reply "YES" to the texts that you get and it should go through. For the Red Cross site its simply redcross.org and disaster relief is on the main page. I am in no way pressuring everyone to do something just saying that if you an help please do. I have already sent ten dollars to the red cross and probably will do more soon. From what I have read via Twitter and other headline sites that the red cross has raised over 35 million dollars or so since tuesday that is pretty remarkable! Please please help them if you can! Can't stress that enough.

This is a wonderful idea and my family is going to the red cross tomorrow to donate on behalf of each family member. I know we are all getting flooded with this but come on and help out and donate what extra you can give. Instead of buying that Starbucks coffee donate that money to the red cross.

This is incredibly devastating, I had read about in the newspaper the following day and to hear how many lives have been lost due to the earthquake was pretty shocking. I hope the best for the citizens of Haiti.

Thanks X! Everything helps - don't know if you guys are seeing as much as we are but it's just BRUTAL over there right now.
I will say I'm really proud of the regional and worldwide reaction to this....US cell phone users are texting "Haiti" to 90999 and it's raised INSTANT $$$$ at lighting fast speed - very cool! (Millions within days)

As connected as we all are in 2010! There's NO reason anyone on our planet should suffer from lack of modern "help" (cell phones, internet, etc)

I have to do some transferals today and one will be for the Red Cross or another organization. I haven't decided yet to which one I'll give it to but in the end it doesn't matter as long as you try to help and the money gets there were people really need it. :thumbs up:

That's the comfortable world I live in (and how I'm guessing most of us here at GH do) I just can't imagine being SO poor I'm just BARELY eeking out an existence and then WHAM! My world LITERALLY crumbles around me...wow...it's just so sad anyone would have to endure that - and it makes me think how lucky I am living where I do. I guess it's just life but is SUCKS because people are suffering and I hate that!......

I can't even imagine how horrible it would be to be trapped under rubble for even 1 day - how SLOWLY time would pass as you can only think "am I going to die?" every 10 seconds. What a f*cking nightmare...it's not fair.
