Hello guys, if you are a Canadian I would love some help and advice on the best places to live and move to. Do you have a Maritime School, what would be a good place that is gay friendly. stuff like that.

At the moment I am looking to live in Vancouver or Calgary. I have been watching Global news for both of these cities to get an idea of how things are there and I know the news does not tell you a lot about the area.

Depending on what information I get I would come up and visit and see whats out there. Please if you respond to this thread, don't be a jerk. I am really researching this.

Hope to get some advice.

Vancouver is lovely and great gay community. It is a place I would consider living, but very expensive...Hollywood North!!

For me what would top it off...is the 2010 Winter Olympics....i love winter games and would love going to events.

Hi shonen, I have several family members in Canada, most are all in Toronto area, and If i were to live somewhere it would be Toronto:) its a progressive city and still has its old charm.
i also chat with a few gay guys from there and they say its very gay friendly:)

some things to consider before moving: do you speak French? I you do then you will have no problems where ever you live, if not there are some unfriendly area's:(

also, weather!! do you mind it to be cold? there are many cold places there, even in the summer!

not sure about maritime schools. what do you want to study?

and last thing about Toronto, its close to USA and that can be handy at times:)

also take lots of money:p all of canada is expensive compared to USA, there tax is like 3 times ours

Thanks guys

Well thor I dont speak french. Only Sign Language (which I am losing) and enough Japanese to get by. Yeah I dont want to be in any part of Canada towards the east because I at least want to be able to drive to California once in awhile to visit friends and family or in Quebec since my french is not there.

I love the cold actually, I live in a coastal city which is cold most of the time and foggy. I know it can get below zero up there and I am ok with that.

As for schools, I was majoring in Marine Transportation with a minor in Naval Science. I would not do anything with Canadian naval forces only because I don't want to lose my American citizenship so that kinda drops my minor right there. As for marine transportation any thing that allows me to sail the ocean on commercial ships and have a degree in it. Which is what my current school does.

Sure, I got on old Ford F-100, 6cyl, 3 on the tree, no power steering or brakes, no air, no radio, the dash and doors are painted metal (no padding) and the headliner is cardboard. A real mans truck, no Cowboy-Cadillac, just the thing for driving across the country in the middle of summer...

Well I found a school that offers what I am looking for. The British Columbia Institute of Technology has a merchant marine program. So i guess Vancouver is at the top of my list for now.

Can anyone tell me about Vancover. Looking at the school I may have to be in Canada for a year before I can enroll, to get priority. What would be a good job to look into. At the moment I have credentials for the USA Merchant Marine. I guess are shipping or ferry jobs easy to find up there.

My godfather wants me to move to Texas. There is no way in hell I am moving to Texas. Way to hot out there.
