hotlinked images

While posting in picture collections I saw that hotlinked images are not allowed.What is a hotlinked image?

It's an image that's linked to another website.

Instead of posting a picture from your own account you might post a link to the picture that's available on another site. This can cause problems if it's tracked back not to mention that it's stealing bandwidth from them.

That does explain it a bit to me but why would anybody post that way?It must be quite difficult.Thanks for imput.

Those are images that when you click them carry you to another site such as a blog or paysite and not an image posting host site.

If the image you can click on is from an image hosting site, like PimpandHost, it isn't hotlinked and is okay on the forum. It keeps the members fairly safe
