I read so fast that I don't have time to count the words to know how fast I'm reading.

Same here... also depends on how interested I am... Read harry potter 7 in around 3 n a half hours. But takes me around the same to read 20 pages of a medical text!...
:D lol

For sustained readin, i think my best was the whole Sword of Truth series in around a month and a half (there r 11 of them and each one is at least 500 pages)

Talking bout readin, r there many ppl who skip to the end first? Never done it myself, coz it ruins the whole book for me. Re-reading is of course a different matter...

Depends on my mood and on the book... Usually I try to slow myself down so I can savour the book and make it last longer... :) Otherwise I think that on the speed-level my best was a year ago, right before the final high school exams: to distract myself I was reading a book each evening, which means around 400 pages in 3 hours every day for two weeks... :blushing:

I am in fact a terrible reader. Not that I am dyslectic, but I have troubles to concentrate on a text. I am a lot quicker writer than reader.

I read pretty fast but it depends what I'm reading. If it's an exam paper or something official, I deliberately take my time.

Can anyone here read things which are upside-down? Letters and documents on desks in front of people for example. I do that without thinking and I'm usually half-way down the page before the person notices what I'm doing. It's probably really rude but I still do it.

I thought most people could read upside-down text but I was told they couldn't.

So you guys are saying you can decide on the pace of reading --depending on the text, you can slow the process, or speed it up. You can even put the book down and just reflect ob the words. Cool.

But what about TV. Especially informational TV --news and documentaries. How passive do you feel when watching TV? Do you reflect on TV images and words --do you pause a TV program to allow for reflection and assessment? Or is TV just a blur?

Do we read too much, and watch too little TV...

Or do we watch too much TV and read too little?

How much does reading effect you, versus how much does TV effect you/your outlook, and vice versa?

i guess that would depend on a few things...hahahaha
