Hey all! Haven't been on here in AWHILE lol Anyway, since I've been gone I've been through 2-3 jobs since last year, and now my current job (and hopefully a long lasting one) is at StarSchmucks! I was completely intimidated when I first went in for an interview and thought I bombed it and they would never call, but a month has passed and here I am today as a barista So the reason why I'm on here is just to vent about my experience so far and dealing with my co-workers. Let's start with the beginning. My last job was at a greek restaurant and needless to say, I was the youngest person in there both with the other employees and the customers, like 10+ years older than me.
So I didn't really get any people to hang out with after work that much, and during my time working there (about 7 months) I cut ties with some of my closest friends from high school, lets just say i was getting the feeling they were just abusing my hospitality and the final straw was when they made me seriously late for work because they had to go when I did so I could lock my house up but they weren't budging and being a little rude (it had been building up over time and near the end it was almost always on my mind). So over the time I didn't have people to hang out with excluding family but you need someone to talk to other than family yknow? And I was looking for another job because business was slow in August and they closed for the month. I applied everywhere and I came across starbucks and thought "Eh why not" Where I live it's impossible to get a job at starbucks. After I got hired and everything was filled out I felt so tense, cuz its starbucks. And the one thing I noticed on my first day of training, there are some cute guys I work with!
Most of them were around my age too, 19-23, I'm a bit rusty when hanging out with people my age, just cause the past 7 months I've just been working and paying bills and had no time to focus on my social life which SUCKED btw! But what can you do but keep going until things get better, right? I don't wanna come off as weird to them and be subjugated as "just someone who works with me" kinda guy. And I noticed that the employees in my age group all hang out or go to parties, I would like to hang out with them but wouldn't know how to ask smoothly without seeming too needy or pushy. Also, there's this one guy who's my age, skater kid with tats and some muscle tone P, that i personally think he hates me lol Because whenever I ask a question it feels like I'm bugging him or interrupting things he needs to do and I don't want to be a bother. But that's during the day shift, when we're closing he seems more chill and talkative but still puts off that attitude like I'm bugging him. Then the other night when I was closing with him and another manager, who I heard was awful at closing and we'd be getting out late which we did, he was so pissed at the end of the night I thought he would never work with me again. I had the next day off so I didn't see him and the day after that was his birthday so he had off. I got into a conversation with the two I was working with that night (I just joined in casually) how I thought he was mad at me and they said that was his normal attitude when closing especially with the manager who drags her feet. They also said he hits when he's aggravated not like punches like little taps like joking around like some guys do, he hasn't hit me yet so I think that's a good thing, or maybe not.
I haven't got into my comfort zone as of yet when I'm working there but I'll know it'll happen naturally whenever I usually start a new job. As for the customers, y'all need to get an espresso machine, buy your own damn coffee grounds and make it at home, cause some people just go insane to get one cup of coffee  Well that's all I have to say for now but I work today and close up with another cool manager who helps me out and stuff like that but I don't know if the other guy is working with me too (fingers crossed!). Phew I feel really good after typing this out ^^ thanks for reading this ridiculously long post lol:cheers:
