Good choice! You're not missing anything. Remember, that if you feel like you envy smokers at some point, they brolly envy you cause you've been able to quit. Stick to your decission, you didn't like to be a smoker (or we're conserned about health, money etc.) and you quit it. Enjoy your freedom. And there rarely is a just one smoke, you don't need it anymore;)

Let me ask are you going from cigarettes to electronic cigarettes or quitting all together???

Josh - electronic to start with, they only have a tiny % of the poisons and addictive stuff, most is flavouring.

I do know that doctors here consider "smoking" these (vaping is the new buzz word :p ) as non smoking, so all the shit put out by the powerful tobacco lobbyists to try and protect their harmful business is simply just that!

Quitting, what I believe is one of the most addictive and dangerous substances/habits in this world requires incredible strenght, self control and determination. Congratulations are in order.

What you just did is to be admired and applauded. I can do nothing but wish you a long, healthy life. *hugs*

Unfortunately my will seems not to be strong enough, so I still smoke. Wish you success my friend.

I wish I had a dollar for every time I tried to quit!

The best of luck for you, let us know if you'll be victorious, maybe I'll find the strength to hold on and fight this stupid addiction.

Best of luck with it! Hopefully the e-ciggies will take the edge of the nicotine withdrawal symptoms.

The only thing to fear is fear itself. Fear that quitting is going to be hellish. Fear that you won't make it. That fear kept me wasting my money on the bastard things long after they had ceased to offer much in the way of enjoyment. Once I got past that, the actual giving up was not the ordeal that it was made out to be.
Don't let us down, you know you can beat the snout.

hope you achieve such a goal my friend....i know myself how hard is trying to leave this habit behind
2 years ago i totally quit it and one thing that helped me very much was also quitting alcohol. that really works with me for whenever i went for a beer (for example) i would smoke non-stop until i run over my pack of cigarettes.

may the force be with you!

Thanks everyone :D Love your comments.

I haven't missed the ciggies on day one, in the past I've quit and gone back to them many times.
The E-Cigs I have are not the strong ones, I have a few of those if needed but went for the average strength .

I'm in no way ever going to be one of those awful moralists that condemns smoking, and the worst are those who have quit, it's a fantastic thing to do, it's peaceful, it's perfect for contemplative moods, and it's lovely as a social exercise ;)

All things harm us, and I have no interest in living to 100 , but I hate paying so much tax on any product!!! :))

You quit when you want to, not before, and not because anyone tells you ;)

exactly the right attitude X - proud of you brother!:big hug:

I quit 4+ years ago - also cold turkey but I used a ball point pen with the ink tube removed when I felt that need to suck on something...

FEEL FREE TO SMASH THAT SOFTBALL I JUST SERVED UP OUT OF THE PARK HERE!!!:p:p

It actually worked btw..after a meal or just waking up were my worst cravings. The electronic cig is a good option but you do have to give up that oral fixation (strike 2?) Once you get past a month or so the cravings really go away and aside from an occasional cigar that I don't inhale - I haven't touched or even wanted a cig since. You'll be amazed at the money you save too...don't know how much smokes are in England but where I live they're around $5 a pack or $40-$50 a carton and I smoked about a pack and a half a day.

Hey - if I did it you can too! G33:)

Hey Garth

They're now very expensive here, New York prices, over £6 a pack.

I can afford them, and did because smoking is a lovely and pleasurable thing to do. The E-cigs really do work, and I did hear that Australia has already banned them!! Is this really true ?

They work, for someone who smoked over 30 a day and gone to zero with a few sucks on these things it's good, and a few sucks on other things might help also :))
