Dear friends

ebrahim%20hamidi-iran.jpg

An 18-year-old Iranian is facing imminent execution on charges of homosexuality, even though he has no legal representation. Ebrahim Hamidi, who is not gay, was sentenced to death for lavat, or sodomy, on the basis of "judge's knowledge", a legal loophole that allows for subjective judicial rulings where there is no conclusive evidence.

Hamidi was arrested two years ago in the suburbs of the western city of Tabriz in the East Azerbaijan province after a fight with members of another family. Three of his friends were also involved in the incident and were subsequently arrested. Later, the four were accused of homosexual assault on a man and of attempting to abuse him sexually.

A person convicted of homosexuality in Iran can be lashed, hanged or stoned to death. The law includes a variety of penalties for different acts: 99 lashes if two unrelated males sleep "unnecessarily" under the same blanket – even without any sexual contact. A boy raped by an adult man would also be lashed if the court decided that he had "enjoyed" the experience.

After three days in detention, Hamidi confessed to the crime, allegedly under torture. The other three were cleared of all charges when promised by officials that they would be freed if they testified against Hamidi.

However, last month Hamidi's alleged victim admitted that he had been under pressure from his parents to make false accusations. Nevertheless the local judiciary has insisted that Hamidi should be executed.

Important information.

This is a very good way to make a humanitarian effort to homosexuals in countries with repressive regimes.

The only slight problem is the link above lead to a page with Italian text. Of that reason I urge everyone to use Google translate to see it in your own language. http://anonym.to/?http://translate.google.com/

On the Google translate page you paste the link given in the first post above, choose languages (from Italian to your own language) and click "Translate". You will then get the page in your own language and can sign the petition.

It is difficult to understand the application of Sharia Law here. My Western culture can (slightly) compare this to Matthew Sheppard whom was brutally murdered under dubious circumstances. My heart goes out to his family, my prayers to God simght the archaic laws of a country that enslaves it's population, and that His wisdom prevails.

the whole thing is so easy for us. We expect to get respect and be treated well.
We expect to have food on the table and to have a job and go to every day.
But what one does not expect is to be punished for something you have not asked for. Something we that how not involved in idiotic stupid religious laws looks like a pretty normal life for us.

Did we choise to be born to be GAY. Did we choise to found out we love a other human of our own sex.

Thats realy inportent you can live your own life without being punished for what you are.

Remember that you spend a minute to make your voice heard, fill out and tell everyone you are against this and you whant this boy free. Thats inportent

** Damn these people who will decide if a man should live or die **

False religionists

Sharia has nothing to do with true Islamic belief - it is a concoction of man-made rules that have been foisted upon fearful people by power and control freaks. I have read the Qur-an from several English translations and have spoken with serious Islamic (Muslim) teachers, who have explained that such cruelty is not found within the Qur-an. If these so-called Judges and practitioners of Sharia Law "really" believed in God, they'd tremble in their shoes to utter such lies.

The problem exists due to so many millions of illiterate people who believe what they are told, without having the knowledge to investigate for themselves. I'm neither Islamic nor anti-Islamic. I am pro truth.

Obviously the young guy is innocent even if he were gay he should not be executed. What is wrong with Islamic nations!

thats is not sharia nor hudud law.. that was men-made-sharia law... for sharia or hudud to be practiced, certain numbers of impartial and fair witnesses to actually prove that the boy is having sodomy.. not being homosexual. how can one prove homosexuality?? only a 'caught-in-the-act' action is executable, please get the facts straight before psycho-analyzing sharia law.. im not stating these because im muslim, im stating the fact because i studied both civil law and sharia law..

as for my own perspective, i do thinks that the arabs, iranian, egyptian, iraqis are all ungrateful that the prophet Muhammad was given to them in their own blood line.. thats why they are all so ignorance and take Islam as granted to execute and prosecute others who they think did not conform to their idea of islam.. but once they are out of their country, u can see their true colors.. we have a lot of them in malaysia, drinking alcohol and doing vices.. when they go back to their own country, they started to act pious and condemning others who are different

Furthermore, for those who might think that islam is cruel, please check out the Texas Supreme Court Case Lawrence v. Texas and how bigot-ish Texas District Attorney Chuck Rosenthal was..
it's all bigotry nonetheless Muslim or not.. once a bigot, always a bigot.

True, Amirza.

So much of this kind of hypocrisy is attached only to Muslims these days. I've known in person a Muslim, he liked a drink, he was gay, he was an ordinary guy. I've known a Seik, he was very friendly, liked a drink, only difference was he wore a turban, but just an ordinary guy.
It's a minority who cause this and use religion to further their own ends. If you look back in history, and sometimes even the current or more recent times, the Christian religion was/is used in exactly the same way by those unscrupulous who have power and their own agenda.

I recently saw an article where few words were written on Islamic belief on gay relationship.

quote several passages from the Koran:

"Of all the creatures in the world, will ye approach males, And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!" (26:165-166).
"Would ye really approach men in your lusts rather than women? Nay, ye are a people (grossly) ignorant!" (27:55).

"For ye practise your lusts on men in preference to women : ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds." (7:81). "And we rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): Then see what was the end of those who indulged in sin and crime!" (7:84). "He said: "O my Lord! help Thou me against people who do mischief!"" (29:30).

What is your opinion on this?

^^ im not saying that homosexuality is not a sin, but so does sex out of wedlock.. but, the thing is, there's not a problem loving another man, having sex with one is however sodomy.. and don't go quoting Koran with me, im not pious.. all i know is, Prophet Luth's people used to practice sodomy, thats how homosexuality started and thats y God forbids it.. i think the Bible version is the Sodom & Gomorrah or something..
