With a question like this you will have a ton of different replies because frankly all relationship are not based on the same concept. Mine per example is really really really based on love. My husband and I truly (yes I changed "my dude" for "my husband" since we'll be married in 4 months) love each other. But if we rollback 4 years, our relationship was based on need (sexual need that is). We still need and fuck like rabbits but the base is really just love and in another way we need each other for much more than just sex.

When I first came out, my definition of a relationship was based on sexual need. However, now that I'm older and I have experienced being in a relationship that was based off love, any relationship from this point on that I may consider will definitely be based on love.

It started with the need for sex. During my marriage it changed in the need for love. Since my divorce it is back to the need for sex. But things changed. When I was young it could happen that the next morning was an absolute shock when I realized what I got into sharing the bed with. Such a thing will not happen now. I think most relationships start as a need with a potential for love. At least in my experience. I would have liked to have a relationship start with love and grow physical, like with someone Ive known years. but that just wasnt the case. I wonder if those kinds of relationships are different in the long run.:?

Frankly even if a couple would come to me saying that they started their relationship based on love only I'd have a very hard time believing it unless they have been knowing each other for a long time before without any sexual interactions.
