She was more courageous and cutting edge in her humour than many of the younger comedians, definitely she pushed the envelope the most out of the regularly aired tv series in US. I miss her immensely not just for her talent, but for the tiny bit I knew of her as a person in the fan-celebrity relationship. I hope Melissa and the rest of her family are ok.

This was so sad. she did so much to crash through the barriers for women in Hollywood and comedy. She was an amazingly hard working woman who inspired many others to great deeds.
She was 81 years old. I guess she just looked much younger for her age.

The comedian, known recently for her sharp one-liners on E's Fashion Police, often poked fun at herself and joked about her plastic surgery.
"I haven't done as much as everyone thinks I have done but that's fine. You have to know how much to do, when to do it and I always recommend doing a little at a time. Otherwise you are going to look like you have been through a wind tunnel or Robert Redford looks like he is in the witness protection program. You go, who is that?" she said.
