I too am trying to cut back. it use to be four or more a day, but recently, I'm hitting one or two. But personally, when I'm stressed, it screw the plan and just pull till I'm satiated.

Maybe you should "cross your t's and dot your i's" and change the title in "main question".
I still masturbate, but have no agenda for it. It is a fulfillment of need. Some days the need is high, but when I feel no need there is no reason for doing it.

I will echo and agree completly with this statement. Our bodies tend to tell us when they need to do certain things. When you are truly horny (as opposed to just wanting a toy for your hand), you will feel the need to masturbate. That frequency of need varies for each guy. If you are fortunate to have a partner who provides a sexual outlet whenever you need that, masturbation will probably not be an often-resorted-to habit.

When I was in my youth, 6-8 times a day wasn't unusual, but that soon ramped down to once or twice daily and then several times weekly as I moved through my 20's and 30's; now it's as Tjerk12 states - whenever the need is there.
