This should be a thread for all movie-fans. It came to my mind to open this thread because of the discussion in the "Gay-Themed-Movie-Thread" about the movie KAPOOR AND SONS.

It would be great if you would have seen a movie you liked so much that you want to open your heart about it. Here we should! As well if you have seen a movie which has been in your view total crap.

I know movies are always a matter of taste for everyone. One likes it more from this or that reason and the other hates it from this or that reason.

So if you have watched a movie shortly which has been very emotional to you in the way of love or hate - please let us know.

I'm a big movie-fan and I hope so much for your contributions.

What a great idea, Shelter!
I was thinking about something in the same direction, so: two hearts & minds, one thought - as they say...

The only problem with my participation in this thread would be that I totally clutter the thread with my own thoughts and opinion :D:D:D

OK I'll get back to this thread with my cinematic loves & hates as soon as possible;)

Cute-Zozo,because you have said it is an awesome movie - I will watch it in the next days - The GODS OF EGYPT.

All these "Superman"-movies are not my cup of tea. Sorry.

But very interested I would be in the film HEPTA. It is a very pity but since now I haven't heard from it here in Germany. I hope so much to find it one day. It really must be a very awesome film - so what I could read on IMDb.

My dear Gorgik - that should be the reason of this thread. Everyone who will tell something about this or that film will only give his OWN thoughts and opinions. And it would be so very interesting to hear too perhaps from movies, which have been until now for me or others unknown.

So for instance what Cute-Zozo was speaking from HEPTA. Now my hunting instict is awake and I want to see to get it. :thumbs up:

Inbetween movies that are good and movies that are bad are the ones I like, so bad they are good. 'Plan 9 From Outer Space' is a famous example of the type, it geniunely is unbelievably terrible and at the same time a lot of fun. My fav is 'The Beatniks', with sub basement level acting, script and direction, they can't even get the title right, there are no beatniks in it. A 7% score at Rotten Tomatoes flatters it.
For films that are good good, not bad good, I keep coming back to 'The Grapes Of Wrath' and for my sweetheart 'The Leather Boys'. Always black and white of course, in this house we believe that colour was a step in the wrong direction.

I love disaster and super hero movies but The 5th Wave was a nasty turd. I could hardly stay awake. I liked Batman Vs Superman but Captain America was even better. Allegiant was a dud. I don't remember much of the story but I wanted Tris to die and I kept fantasizing about Four having sex with all the male members of the cast.

Well I'm happy to say I absolutely love many more movies than I absolutely hate so the majority of my posts here will be of the former.... where to start? Well how about the opening :

basically it is the story of a patient in hospital telling another patient a story about 5 heroes - an indian; an ex-slave, the masked bandit, an explosives expert, and Charles Darwin... but it's much much more than that, the cinematography is sumptuous - a veritable feast for the eyes, and an atmospheric soundtrack too

Odi et amo, as Catullus said in song no. 85 in the collection of his poems, odi et amo, or in english, I detest and I love, or I hate and I love...

But what does the phrase "this is a very good movie" mean? That it's tells a great story? That it's visually extraordinary beautiful? That it's so well acted by a superb cast? That it's "good for the gays" (in what way? says who? according to whom?)?

Or maybe that it's personally very meaningful to the person speaking (in this case myself), meaningful in the sense that it opened up new perspectives and introduced new emotional intensities? Yeah, I'll go for the personally most meaningful movie in my entire life (and I'm 56 years old right now).

I'm talking about an American movie made in 1972 that I watched on Swedish public service TV a Sunday afternoon in early August - a couple of weeks before the schools would start again after the long summer breaks - in mid 70s, most probably 1975 or 1976, so I was like 15 or 16 years old.

I sat in the livingroom of one of my best friends together with half a dozen of other teenagers in the small village in the deep Swedish countryside where I grew up. The idea was that we should watch a movie & there wasn't much else to do. It was a movie called "Heat" produced by a bloke named Warhol and directed by another bloke called Paul Morrissey.

I mean I didn't even know that the movie was the third and last part in a film trilogy with "Flesh" and "Trash" being the first two.

There's no question that no other movie has ever started such an emotional rollercaster inside my brain, belly and balls, forcing me to oogle the most beautiful and sexy man I had ever seen - and damn! Joe Dallesandro in the late 60s and early 70s was really something - and in some mysterious way definitely demonstrating that it really was true there was a big world outside my village of 300 people!

When I go looking for art, this movie I watched for the first time almost precisely 40 years ago became the personal paradigm for what I mean by art. To me art means: something that will set you in emotional overdrive.

So here we go! "Heat" (oh yeah, hot as fuck...)

Let's continue following the hotness-trail in my post above from "Heat" (1972) to "A streetcar named desire" (1951), Elia Kazan's fantastic rendering of Tennessee William's equally fantastic play and the superfantastic young Marlon Brando as Stanley Kowalski in an act to fundamentally change American film and theater history. As Stan Kowalski Brando became the god of male acting for two, maybe three generations of male actors.

If you want to watch male hotness on screen, then do your self a favour and get a copy of "A Streetcar Named Desire"!

First the scene where Stanley meets his wife Stella's sister Blanche...

And then what's probably is the most famous scene in the movie: STELLAAAA! STELLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

And two years later wild Brando made the movie to change the appearence of biker/leather/gay biker culture, The Wild One (1953).
