I just got for Christmas a smartphone that does Internet. Now I can be not just drunk but "sitting nude on trunk of a 92 Taurus chain smoking and sipping a Budweiser in the nude" drunk and still be messing around on this forum.

Josh... I'm curious where you live. Please don't take this the wrong way, but 7 mbs doesn't sound very fast. I've had a 50 mbs internet connection for over a year now and the slowest I've had in 10 years was 10 mbs. And we don't even get BBC America here...

I heard Aussie ISPs have bandwith limitations, is that true? :/

Yes it's true, we do have bandwith limitations on all our ISPs in Australia my dear friend Stoic:heart: , which is very bad:no: cause they charge us for usage in both downloads and uploads :( my bandwith is only 50GB for $79.95 month, there is a 200Gb but i can't afford that plan, In Australia there is 1 ISP that has an Unlimited internet plan for $39.90/m but it depends if that provider services work in our area, I'm hoping the NBN ( National Broadband Network ) that our government is bringing by upgrading our countries existing copper wires and bring optic fibre cables will remove the need for our providers to charge us for both downloads and uploads or they should increase the Data allowance.

A T1 line can carry about 192,000 bytes per second, roughly 60 times more data than a normal residential modem. It is also extremely reliable much more reliable than an analog modem. Depending on what they are doing, a T1 line can generally handle quite a few people. For general browsing, hundreds of users are easily able to share a T1 line comfortably. If they are all downloading MP3 files or video files simultaneously it would be a problem, but that still isn't extremely common.

A T1 line might cost between $1,000 and $1,500 per month depending on who provides it and where it goes. The other end of the T1 line needs to be connected to a web server, and the total cost is a combination of the fee the phone company charges and the fee the ISP charges.

There you have it :) My home is also a business so I host multimedia websites and other voip services so I need a t1 it wasn't just because I wanted it ;)

Btw Jake unless I'm mistaken you missing some zero's on that number. It should be 192,000,000.

Actually you are mistaking... the T1 line delivers a speed of 1.544 Mbps, 192,000 bytes = 1.46484375 Mb.

This should help you calculate the bytes:

1 megabits (kilobyte = 1024 bytes)
bits 1048576
bytes 131072
kilobits 1024
kilobytes 128
megabits 1
megabytes 0.125
gigabits 0.0009765625
gigabytes 0.0001220703125
terabytes 1.19209289550781e-07
petabytes 1.16415321826935e-10
