I was just wondering why rapidshare isn't used as much here at the moment. Does anyone know why that might be?:cheers:

Speaking for myself, here's some reasons:
1 - for people with a paid for service they've changed the contract without asking or consulting us.
2 - they introduced a new beta loader that doesn't work as good as the old one
3 - they introduced a new payment system that is difficult to understand
4 - therefore I don't trust them anymore. :no:

Rapidshare committed suicide. I'm done with them - Hotfile is heaps better with no limits on Premium Account downloading. What was Rapidshare thinking - they were crap compared to others to start with and then they made it worse. They can disappear into a sinkhole for all I care.

I checked my Rapidshare account & did some calculations & it seems, like others, I've got credit for a few years ahead, whereas previously I only had a one year subscription. So it seems with RS if you only upload the occasional one-off file & you get not many downloads, your account will soon expire unless you buy more Rapids with cash/credit. Those who upload regularly with lots of downloads will benefit well into the future, as I seem to have done.
But what's the catch, what benefit will RS get from this? It might seem the ordinary Joe or Josephine who only uploads a video of the family holiday once a year will have to pay more to keep the file on the site. But most people know there are stacks of free file-sharing sites available & will just go to those sites instaed.
So the only benefit RS would seem to be getting is freeing up lots of server space by shedding off most of the small, under-used accounts. So maybe when they've done that they'll re-introduce the annual subscription again.
Anyone else got any ideas about what RS's game is?

I agree, for me Rapidshare has always been one of the best, but they need to free their service in order to be competitive (megaupload is much faster for downloading and has a bigger size allowance!).
you need to pay extra if you want the files available forever, but personally I guess that those that I have uploaded on Rapid can easily be deleted after few months as I will have a copy on hard drive!).
