That's very true etilit. Hmmm, but to control your feelings depends on the situation and how much influence another person (or thing) might be exerting on you. If a person is present and in close proximity their actions might trigger an emotional reaction in you -bad or good. The same would apply even to objects -especially if they have sentimental value. But what happens when there is no one and no thing there to influence you? Especially when we are alone, things like memory, fantasy and imagination come into play. So is it easier to control our emotions when alone versus when in direct contact with others and other things? :?

I disagree with that--if someone emotionally abuses you, they are at fault and should be held responsible for their behavior. Other people in my vicinity do not have the right to intentionally hurt me and then come back and say it is my problem. That's why I believe in making ours a more kind, caring world, not one where victim-blaming affirmations rule.

 If someone intentionally pushes buttons, they need to own that and be accountable. If it's unintentional, a gentle word to them about the distress caused should bring immediate adjustment and making it right from them. Anyone who blames victims is just a jerk and is a victimizer themselves, and is likely seeking to escape taking ownership for their own stuff. Blaming and shaming are just diversionary tactics to remove the focus on wrongdoing.
