About a week and a half ago, I had a few extra dollars and decided to go hopping around the local Goodwills. I wound up picking up a 15 year old Sony PDA for $10 and it included original box and accessories. A few days later, I was at some no-name thrift store and I found another Sony PDA (albeit a lower end model despite being newer) for the same price and also with box and accessories and this one even had the original receipt (from CompUSA reporting it sold for $130) dated August of 2002.

If anyone else collects old tech, feel free to post it here.

Why do you collect old technology? Is it for the sake of nostalgia or perhaps to keep older gadgets as spares if you ever need them.

Back around 2001 I remember buying a Sony "minidisc" player. It seemed so cutting edge at the time, and I was so chuffed with myself, but the format never really took off. I think I threw it out but it might have been nice to hold onto it. I wonder how rare they have become?

This was the exact one I had:

There's a rapidly growing collectors market for vintage tech.

An Apple-1 computer from 1976 recently sold for $671,400 at auction. Old 70's calculators regularly sell for hundreds of dollars, old calculator watches go for as much as $3,000. The Sony Walkman Chris Pratt used in "Guardians Of The Galaxy", that model sells for $500 to $1,200...

Ten years from now those handhelds and that mini-disc could be worth big money...

Old electronics have always sparked my interest. I'm not totally sure why. I also have a bunch of old calculators and some late 90s Windows CE devices laying around. Back in high school, Minidisc was interesting to me. By the time I could afford to own one, MP3 players were cheap commodity items.
