Passwords,etc

Perhaps someone can enlighten me what the point is with these passwords one often finds, most posters don't bother much with this, but some do.

It's not really a problem-unless you do what I have done a few times- closed a page and found I needed a password and then end up searching for it all over the place -now that is irritating!

Just wonder why some people use passwords and some don't ?

Another thing I don't understand why some posters do these joined files like .001, 002,etc and once you have joined them, you get another file with rar and have to unzip that.

I expect there is a reason for all these things just can't think of any

suppose the reason is security but can't really see the point of that either, as anyone who reads the posts can just follow the procedures and see what the content is.

I am sure I will be enlightened on this matter in due course

I use password & encrypting file names for some security reasons. (Who is not authorized can't open the file and see the content.)

I use password for security reason. I want that only who reads my posts can open the archives. It's relatively simple to find a linklist on the net and I prefer who isn't authorized can't see what's the archive content.
I agree, this can be sometimes bothering, but it's not a big effort remember a little password

the .001 and .002 file extensions are to allow people to split up a huge file into many portions to allow people with slow internet connections to download the files bit by bit. But if you have a fast connection, it would not concern you since its just a little more effort... unless like me you are a free user and it gets really annoying to keep waiting/refreshing/unplugging LAN cable... to save you the trouble of forgetting the password why not check 1st before closing the webpage? i know its difficult to keep your eyes of the models and cannot wait to enjoy it but still, check!
