I have a lot of my 'stuff' saved into PPT files. They're great slideshows (click 'n' go!) but I just realized that they'll embed my name and other data. I don't want to have to break them down into slides, repackage them, and chuck up a bunch of examples (though I know I will be giving some).

How do you, or anybody, suggest I share these?

They're compilations from many major sites, over several years, but are definitely 'my tastes.' I just want to give back something, and that's almost half a gig worth of pics.

I know about resaving prefs, but can I be sure I can provide these to everyone else anonymously enough for me to feel comfortable?

I don't really understand what you mean. What I understand is that you want to remove your name from these in your powerpoint presentations. I suggest that you take out the images and make a movie of all them.

There is a easy software that is named windows live moviemaker, where you can get great-looking effects for scrolling. You can add sound and lots of other. Then, if you are unsure where they will be posted in the Forum talk with a forum moderator so we help you to publish them.

I made myself a video in ten minutes of a few photos we took in this years before all go on the vacation on the work and the three very good in high HD quality. Do not know if it was you were looking for but I might have get you an ide :p

Another idea is to use one of the items of software available to remove such data from the original files. Microsoft even make such a utility available for free. Just type Power Point Remove Hidden Data into a search engine & you'll find it, plus some other 3rd party software. It would be helpful to post back how you get on with this.

You can tell Powerpoint to not save the metadata which would otherwise identify you, your company, or your PC as the creator.

A good tutorial with step-by-step for both Powerpoint 2003 and 2007 can be found at:
Code:
http://www.ehow.com/how_5946020_clear-powerpoint-properties.html

You can verify what would be exposed by right-clicking on the PPT file and choosing "Properties", then click the Summary tab (it's worth then clicking "Advanced >>")

Converting to a movie as suggested by Nautilus can turn out some very cool material, but may lead to larger filesizes at comparitively lower picture quality -- plus the end users cannot save out the individual photos to disk like they can from the Powerpoint version.

Yeah, nixing the metadata is definitely the way to go. I was worried that there might be some other identifying stuff I hadn't thought of. And yes, I think I want to keep them as slide shows and not movies, precisely so that guys can edit them however they want and ditch stuff they don't like.

One other thought: I know I wouldn't want to just slap them up w/o some kind of 'sample' or description, but they're mixed bag collections. I've seen others put up five or six pics, which won't really be representative, but--since I now have to resave them all--I'm not sure if it's worth it to create thumbnails. Yea or nay?

I would say as long as you put up a few pics as an example of the general 'flavour' of the pics, you're fine. As you'll see from the XXX Pics section, you don't need actual caps. That's more of a movie thing :).

A PPT would be viewed as more of a pic collection than a movie in my view :)

Saving issues

I've gone into the Prefs and Options, and even though I can get it to delete the additional information, whenever I view a resaved file, the Properties show that my name persists. This is incredibly annoying. I imagine I could always export them as individual picture files and just ZIP them up (most people's computers can run slideshows in any number of programs), but might there still be a way? I've deleted the original pref file for MS, still with no luck (it's the last version of Office for Mac). Grr.

Which version of Powerpoint are you using?
Powerpoint X for Mac (OS 10.4).

I think my problem may be the license. Presuming I could even find it (Macs have never been the same for me since Unix), I don't think deleting it...or the package receipt...would be a great idea. You used to be able to 'trick' a program that way, but not anymore. I just don't get why it persists/repopulates, even if I remove it all just prior to saving. I wish I could trust that people simply wouldn't or couldn't look at a doc's properties, just to be nosy, but who am I kidding?

BTW, thanks for everybody's help, so far. It really shouldn't be this difficult to share my wares. ~X(
