Princess Diana -was she assassinated?

In an hour of boredom I watched a couple of youtube clips where the claim was that she was assassinated. Of course I usually pay little heed to such theorizing, but one thing made me think twice...

The letter she wrote (albeit several years before here death) saying

"This particular phase in my life is the most dangerous - my husband is planning 'an accident' in my car, brake failure..."

And then she ends up dying is a massive car crash.:thinking:

Or, it could be that she was being driven to despair by the press hounding here, to the point where she she was not thinking clearly, and hence was more likely to write odd, off the wall, comments in letters, but which she truly didn't mean.

I think this is one of those world famous cases where almost everyone has an opinion.. but will we ever know the truth?

The internet is full of conspiracy-theories. Almost everytime when someone famous dies something like that comes up.

In this case I believe she ended up dying in a massive car crash and someone faked a letter of her writing about "accidents" to sell it for a lot of money.

I think Bigsal has summed up the facts quite well. The car accelerated into the tunnel at very high speed and the driver was drunk. If you want to look for conspiracies, be my guest. But those two initial facts by themselves make a fatal crash quite likely.

The other major contributing factor to her death is the fact that she wasn't wearing a seatbelt. Being in the back seat, she probably would have survived if she had.

I think the problem is, that Occams Razor isn't very popular nowadays.

I mean why should you accept a fully logical explanation that perfectly fits the facts, when it's soooo boooring ? Damned boring Occam ; let's talk about the Queen, the Prince of Wales, the British Court and - why not? - the Illuminati, count Dracula and dr Frankenstein!!!

She had supposedly written many times over a number of years that she feared for her life. Also, the driver of the Fiat mentioned in many reports seems to be suspicious. However, on the night of her death, nobody was wearing a seatbelt and everybody, including the driver, was drunk. On top of that, they were being chased by paparazzi. Never the less, the whole situation seems very strange. With the knowledge made available to the public, many conclusions could be drawn. If she was assassinated, it was a perfect crime as, while nothing can be disproved, nothing can actually be proved either.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. A comment in a letter a few years ago is VERY un-extraordinary!
