Problem combining .rar files

A few weeks ago I lost the ability to combine winrar files on my computer. I can still open single rar files but I can't combine them.

Can someone tell me what's wrong?

Oh one more thing. The error message says " The archive is either unknown or the format damaged.

WinRar came out with a version 5. something either earlier this year or late last year. I recall that I needed to upgrade to this version so that I could combine files but I do not remember what type of error message I got by trying to combine files with the 4. version that I had. That is if I had even tried to combine them prior to upgrading - the uploader that I had downloaded from had put a message on their post that the newer version was needed to extract the post (sometimes I listen to people the first time - sometimes I do not)

I just downloaded version 5 and now I can combine the files. Thanks for your help.
