Problems with rapidshare

Recently rapidshare made several changes to their web-site. Since then, I have been unable to download any galleries from them at all. I have tried downloading no less than 15 galleries. I get one of two messages-either the gallery has been removed due to the material being illegal or I need rapid-pro to download the gallery. If Rapidshare is going to force people to buy a membership in order to download file, we should show our appreciation by boycotting them alltogether. Am I the only one having problems or are others having problems too?

Hello flipper,

can you give an example from this forum (a posting) please? I am not sure if I understand the problem right. Are you unable to open and download the single parts of the download galleries or are you unable to open the whole gallerie from an uploader?

rapid share

When I access the download, I accept free user and it has me wait the 45=60 seconds and I either get-you have exceeded your daily limit (and I have not downloaded from rs at all in the past 6 hours) or a message that the file is not available either because it was illegal material or removed by their ...(something) team. I recieve these messages every attempt to download from rs. This problem started with the redesigning of their new web-site. I sent rs an e-mail to their technical support and recieved a response that due to a high volume of inquiries, I can expect a longer response time than usual.

yeah rs sucks right now for free users :/ I saw their anti-waiting campaign and I'm like wtf. If you have a free account on RS and dont have any rapids, you wont be able to downlaod anything... and they force you to buy rapids... so I just log out and download as an anonymous downloader

I agree they have fast servers but they are slowly going down with the changes they are bringing up. Regular uploaders have changed to other hosting sites because of this.

Do you know if the files are really deleted or not? Please show us a posting from this forum, so we can proof the files. If they are really deleted, we can tell you. And for the waiting time: Do you use a static or a dynamic IP?

I can download from them with the normal waiting time and no problem, so it would be interesting for me also, to know what happens now.

The files are NOT deleted and can be downloaded with the free version, but just not the Premium Account version. It's a settings / cookie problem as it tells me my account is expired, yet the same page says it's valid until April 2010.

My contacts with Rapidshare say that the problem has been fixed. Now when I log on to the computer, and get forwarded to RS, I'm told that I need to wait 897 seconds, even though th computer has been off all day. When I finally get the download option, I press download in the free option. After the wait time, I get the message that I can not download the file without Rapid-pro. Then I get the message that too many parrallel downloads have come from my ip address, or I have reached my limit. Is Rapidshare telling me that I have reached my limit for good, or are they telling me that they have detected that while I was downloading from MediaFire, I was downloading from them? I have deleted my cookies, history and restarted my modem. I desperately want the recent Stas picture collection, but it's downloaded from RS. RS last reply was that I needed to log off and request free download. But, I'm not logged on.

^ If you arent logged in and you still get that message, that means your ip is shared by everybody. Try to see if you have a proxy application or server configured in your browser - or try another browser...

Got it sorted, but no thanks to Rapidshare.
Apparrently under their new guidelines you need to pay for downloads, which you do by buying 'Rapids'. These Rapids are used up with each download, depending on size, until you need to buy more.
I have a paid-up account until april 2011, but couldn't download until I worked out - on my own with no guidance from Rapidshare WHATSOEVER - that I have to convert the Rapids shown in my account to downloads. Once I did that, things were back to normal.
Very very poor information from Rapidshare - it appeared I actually had to buy more and thereby spend more money until I worked out that I already had a store of Rapids in my account for conversion, equal to the value of the six months remaining in my account.
Simple now I know, but very confusing until worked out.

Rapidshare has finally responded that only when slots are available can you download for free. And after about 100 attempt, I was finally able to download a file. Tried again several times since, but no luck. Someone was kind enough to respond to one of my requests for help telling me that he had the same problem, but now knows the best time to download. I've tried all hours. RS being in another country and doing business workdwide, I am at a loss as to when to try. I am seeing less and less posting with RS as the source here at GH. I hope that the message is getting out, if you want to post something that we all can download please use MF, HF or someone other than RS.

I was a longtime rapidshare user infact ive tried rapidshare, sendspace, hotfile, filefactory. and so on. At first I was really reluctant to use hotfile. But since rapidshare pulled that charge by file thing ive switched over to hotfile. In my experience with it if you download a bunch at a time some will go faster but if your do one file at a time it takes a minute. Sendspace allowed me to download multiple files but not in a fast rate. I think the best free download is mediashare but not alot of people use it. Thats just my 2 cents

Yea, it's very sad to see the decline of rapidshare. My account expires next month and I will not be renewing. I've had that account for years! I hate everything they've become, including the new website.

Rapidshare should be re-named RapidTortureShare, because that's what they now do to users including those with paid-for accounts. Their new customer interface is absolutely dreadful with no proper explanation about how to use it. What was wrong with the old one anyway? even though it had no instructions (in the usual Rapidshare tradition) at least it was possible to work out how to use it. But the new interface seems to have no logic to it.
The text for files on the File Manager page is tiny & squeezed onto the right-hand side to make room for 2 lists of contents with plenty of empty space & graphics on the left. These could easily be put at the top of the page to make more room for important file information which the user needs. ~X(

The links pane is too small for many file names which then become partly often hidden. The result is that copying a link may not get the complete link details. Result? A faulty link. :?
If you want to change the order files are listed in under My Files you can try clicking on the columns headed Type or Name. The order changes, but by what criteria? It's totally incomprehensible! X_X

I'm thinking of asking Wikileaks to try get their hands on the Rapidshare users guidelines and publish it on the web. :thinking:

No more storing of files with Rapidshare for me until they get their act sorted out.

Hmmm, rapidshare still works great for me. i have over 3000 rapids, and all working fine. :(
