programs to edit photos

what would be good programs to edit photos?
i google it and im lost.

a special someone did my icon pic wich is great and i want to know how to do that myself.

thats saying it all, some day im going to sit down and learn this photo stuff i swear i am , even if it takes me a very long time.

photoshop is to hard i have try, I will check out Photoplus

I suggest you go through the total training for photoshop. A guy will show you all the basics on a video from scratch. That's the best way to get started. You can skip the boring stuff..

Xnview is one of the easiest to use.

Although I do use Photoshop, the former loads fast and, unlike the latter, does not tax the stuffing out of your CPU.
It has a great batch converter and will even play some movies
