Reward programme: RapidPoints and RapidDonations to be discontinued
June 18, 2010
As of July 1, 2010 RapidShare's RapidPoints programme will be discontinued. This decision by the company is a reaction to claims that the reward programme rewards the uploading of contents that are protected by copyright.
We feel it is necessary to undertake this step as we do not wish RapidShare's users to be exposed to such an unjustified general suspicion. Our primary objective remains to provide users with a fast, secure and reliable service.
What will the changes mean for our users?
First, nobody will lose any points that have already been ac
ulated. You can redeem them until July 6, 2010. Please also note that within the next days we will offer you an opportunity to convert a Collector's account into a free Premium account and to transfer your points into this Premium account.
Unfortunately, we must also give up the RapidDonation scheme. An amount of 10,000 Euros was collected for each and every organisation and project that was introduced. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the donors for their contributions!
We are currently exploring how we can continue the donation programme in the future.
Clearly, we would like to continue rewarding customers who recruit new clients. As soon as we have developed a new reward programme, we will of course contact you immediately to provide more details.

Well this is in fact a good news for the forum! I guess much less flooding with boring content is to be expected in the future. Hopefully.
But on the other hand Rapidshare is not so much in a leading position among hosts any more. So we can expect many users will now just change the host.

:angry: This was an upsetting news, specially for me who uploads on RS. I have no choice to upload in HF for my future uploads X_X Argh, this is insane!

well if i cant get my tv and alike from em in the future i doubt im gona stick with em
they arent closing but whos gona use em if all the big uploaders shift
they also have a weird rule that when u have over 50gb they delete files not downloaded in 60 days. means of course u log in sometimes and files are deleted and ur not told which ones, annoying. i usually had to delete older stuff meself to create space to upload new stuff
only compo i got from all this was i got to keep my premium account for free to get my tv
and i dont think it was much to ask for that small compo for the work involved but alas who knows what will happen now...
i started offering hf as u noticed just for variety and i had an account, and that seems to go alright so no complaints there
so if i do stop rs uploading who do i offer now as well as hf lol

I guess I was a visionary here where I wrote: "I would not like to wait another month maybe to realize I cannot extend the account with rapid-points any more for example."
And yea Irishman, why would you leave RS? It still is a good host. It only takes away points. But no one has ever become a rich man because of RS points. So you didn't lose anything.

oh dont get me wrong
i prob wouldnt mind paying for my account
i did at the beginning sure
but that isnt the problem
theres no point in having an account if theres nothing to download
many many of the big uploaders were in it for the points and alikes, they will simply stop leaving us with little to find to download, and im talking about the new stuff starting up on tv in the autum
if they introduce a new system and the new uploads keep on coming i prob will keep with rs but at the moment all im reading in the various forums from the uploaders is they are giving up...
